Everyone has a unique way in which they spend their day.
Sometimes, the day may go left while at times, it may go right but in all, the important thing is to learn the lessons each day presents and use that lessons to upgrade ourselves.
I have different life though hehe. The life of a midwife, the life of a blogger, the life of a student and many more. Hehe.
Based on the prompt, I will take you through a day in my life as a midwife.
Here goes nothing
I was actually supposed to publish this post yesterday but was stressed out and couldn't do anything after I came back. So, this post is based on 23/01/2024.
So, I woke up by 5:30am feeling really good and energized. I did my morning routine, ate, and started feeling lazy. I guess it's because of the food though.
I was supposed to go for general hospital morning prayers by 7:50am but I was feeling really lazy so I ended up going late. Well, it's better late than never.
After the prayers, my colleagues and I were officially welcomed to the hospital with a welcome song which was really good. We went to our diverse ward of work afterwards.
On reaching to the ward, there was a primi gravida in labour and my laziness dismissed. We received the patient from the previous midwife on duty and the proper thing that should happen, happened.
According to the patient, the labour started the previous night by 9am and was admitted by 5am. We waited patiently for the mechanism of labour to be completed while we assisted the patient and also performed necessary observations.
After some weak contractions which was not having good effects on the cervical dilatation, we had to augment the labour.
We augmented but still no good results. On further Examination, it was found that the the babys position is occipito posterior and the head is trying to make a long rotation, making the anterior fontanel point laterally. Long story short, we started noticing fetal distress and decided to wear the woman a bikini.
The procedure was successful and we had a live female with 3.3kg. we closed the woman up, did what we should do and sent the woman to the recovery room fpr further investigation.
After the procedure..by now, I have removed the scrub.
The apgar score was 1⁵ which is not satisfactory, but with subsequent intervention,it became good.
Everything explained I above ended by around 3pm and 3:30pm. My shift ended by 2pm... After everything, I allowed the evening shift to handle the rest while I attend to body needs. I was happy to have completed that delivery with the aid of other personnel.
I came back home, refreshed and started making the post but guess who came? Sleep came to the rescue and I voluntarily followed and danced happily to its toon.
I woke up very late and I had other things in my schedule by that time, so I had to do them and forfeit my post. Well, I am here now and I a happy to share with you all.
All pictures belong to me and were taken with my collegues'camon 19 mobile phone.
Thank you for reading ☺️
