The holiday is gradually coming to an end and 2024 is already knocking on the door.
January is fast approaching and we all have to go back to our working life even though we want to enjoy the holidays more.
I have enjoyed the company of my friends this holiday and one hiver made it a memorable one for me.
Natural disasters however, can unpredictably occur at anytime without us knowing. Sometimes it claims the life of people and leave the place in ruins with wounded people in the process.
This disaster is not what we pray for but in case it happens, there are things soo precious to me that I can not leave behind.
THE THREE THINGS I MUST CARRY DURING A NATURAL DISASTER.
When a natural disaster occur, let's say an earth quake for example, i will love to carry my freezer 😹 but that will not be needed. However, there are vital things i will carry and these things are:
- My first aid kit:
Without a doubt, there would be a casualty during this times. Being a medical practitioner, I can not just stand and watch how people battle with injuries, I need to do something - stop the bleeding at least and take care of the patient until advance medical team reaches the place of earth quake.
With my first aid kit, I will be able to handle the situation on there properly, be it a burn, or haemorrhage.
- My phone:
in such case, update and communication is very vital. Before I start first aiding, I will need to call my family to report my safety first. This is to avoid unnecessary worries from my family which may drive them to come to the place where the disaster occured in search of me, and I don't want that.
After reassuring my family of my safety, I will have to call a nearby hospital and alert them of the happening so they could send in their ambulance. Then I'll keep an eye for any update from the Internet while I carry out my first aiding in wait for the medical team I called.
- My wallet:
Patients needs reassurance in every situation. However, telling them vocally that "I'm a nurse and I can help with your injury" would not grant me the audacity to take care of them. Showing them an ID card as well as my nursing license should make them feel relaxed and confide in me to an extent. All these things are inside my wallet so I will be needing it.
What else is inside my wallet?
CASH
Cash is important in this scenario. There may be something that comes up and I will have to send somebody to buy something, maybe for the injured or for even my self. For example, after all of these works, naturally I will start going down the road of hypoglycemia and at this point, I need something like Pepsi, coke or anything tha has some sugar in it so that I will not go down the lane of hypoglycemia. I will have been already tired and as such, I will need to get myself a coke so that my body glucose will come back to normal.
I know I should run and save myself first, but when I became a nurse, personally I signed up to save people first in every chance I could, even if it means putting myself in danger. In nursing we protect ourselves first but personally, I think cautiously saving a life is first..
We don't pray for a natural disaster to occur, by if it does occur, these are the three things I will carry so that I too will assist in saving a life, not just run away like a scared dog with its tail behind its legs.
That will be all for this post, I really appreciate your presence on here and I hope to see you next time.
Thank you, and have a sweet day ahead.
