I and my boyfriend have been longing to have our laptops for a while now, there are lots of expenses and commitment that has denied us the opportunity of getting it. Then our hope was revived when he saw an advert of Tech2Dev on Facebook.Tech2Dev is an initiative put in place by an organization in Nigeria that allows you to learn basic Microsoft skills for free and afterwards you will have the opportunity of participating in the raffle draw to win a laptop. It was great news for us so, we applied and I remembered doing night subscriptions just to take the lessons, 12am to 5am I was awake to take each courses, we have 14 courses in all, at the end of each skills you will be awarded a certificate of completion. There were assessment and I tried my best to learn, passed the assessments and finished the courses within 3days.
My boyfriend also did his own and after the completion of the courses we waited eagerly for the announcement of the raffle draw day. I was checking up on their Facebook page and it was later announced that the raffle draw day will be August 30th, 2023. Those that qualify for the raffle draw will be sent a mail. We were both checking our mails and as at 29th there was no feedback yet. On the 30th, they sent us mail I was at the market. Immediately my boyfriend saw the mail he chatted me up and told me to quickly register so that I can participate in the raffle draw, I saw his message around 12pm and the program was supposed to start by 4pm, I told myself "I still have time I will do it before the program starts" and that was the greatest mistake of my life.
[My Email]
I had forgotten I had a program. I was still there when he called me that they just called my name that I should just joined the zoom meeting, he taught I had registered when he asked me to, I had just few minutes to claim my laptop, before I could finished the registration and other things, my gift was given to another. It pained him because he wasn't picked but I was called yet I forfeited it. If I had registered earlier I would have been able to joined immediately he called.
I was depressed for days because of what happened, all my effort was watched down the drain because of procrastination. Till date I still wish I could be given another chance to rewrite my wrongs because I needed a laptop. My lessons from this is never to procastinate, do things on time, don't wait till deadline before you accomplished a task. Many situation would have been salvage if we had done the needful at the right time. Thanks for reading through.
