One of the mysteries yet common phenomena is the possibility that there is an invisible world different from ours but still interacts with ours, including voodoo, supernatural powers, and the like. I, for one, have encountered this on a few occasions, but my grandparents, with whom I grew up, told me loads of stories about their experience with such and how those supernatural powers were used to better lives during their youth days in the village.

In loving memory of my grandparents, who died 8 years ago at the age of 103 and 109, respectively, they were the ones who birthed most of the history I know about my home town and some of the powers that lie therein. They were both born and grew up in our village, Oba Isin, located in Kwara State, Nigeria, and was said to have had many encounters with the invisible world, which they shared with me. Although I usually thought most were mere stories, even though I can sense the truth in their voices and how they look when narrating each encounter, after I witnessed one of the stories they've told me, I became more assured that they were telling the truth in every other ones.
One or such tale they told me was about how we've got a very big mountain in our village in which a river flows beside it; now both this mountain and the river by it side are said to be so powerful and hold a strong position in the strength of how our people prosper, defend their land, and much more.
So my grandmother said there were several occasions when the village wanted to hold a particular event or festival, and because of our not-too-rich status, she said she usually paid a visit to the mountain simply known as Has Ile esu, meaning house of the devil. On each of her visits, she said she pleaded with the moment to please cover her shame and provide her with the exact clothes they chose for the festival. After saying that, she'll go home, and by the time she comes there the next day, she'll meet the clothes she requested on the mountain, wear them to the festival, and return them after the festival is over.
This seems like a fairytale that I find hard to believe, but given the fact that my grandmother usually says the truth and then has become a Christian, I believe her, also because she has said such a thing many times, and the mountain is what usually makes people not mock her in the community.

Another one they told me was how if someone fetches water from the river beneath the mountain and pours it on the mountain, the first drop that flows back to the river will ignite rain immediately.
My grandparents said our ancestors are the ones who gave us those two power substances (mountain and river) to help and provide support for their descendants, so they said it has become a regular thing that farmers do whenever they needed rain for their farm produce, and that regardless of the season, once such is done, rain will start falling immediately. I personally witnessed this myself when I traveled down to our village and tried to confirm how true this was. I did try it twic on different days e, and it rained on both occasions. Some other strangers also came to try it on one other day, and the same was the case.
So with this, I've come to believe that indeed, there is a visible world that connects with ours and yet interacts with ours.
