If there’s one thing I would have loved to have as an addition in my life, it would be art. I am not a very creative person when it comes to art but God, do I love and admire beautiful paintings, designs and drawings.
I believe that in as much as science and technology are very important in our lives and plays a very big part in the development of our world, art is also very important. Art is everywhere and somethings we limit art to just paintings and drawings but even dance is art. When you play close attention to the way the human body moves as it dances, you will appreciate just how beautiful that art is.
They say a picture speaks more than a thousand words. That is very true because when you look at a drawing, you can interpret it in more than one way. An artist can express him or herself perfectly in a painting or art. Where an artist is sad, happy or whatever the situation is, it can be expressed through art.
Art can be used to express our social values. A drawing that portrays a child carrying something and in the presence of an elderly person can be interpreted as help being offered which talks about the social value of helping one another.
A drawing I didn’t think I would like so much is one that isn’t even complete. I went for a program in school where a student was asked to showcase his talents and he decided to draw. Before he started he explained that he had been going through a breakup and that hurt him a lot so he was coming to express how he felt. He didn’t get the time to finish it but it’s an art I really like.

What do you think of this drawing?
Before the end of last year, I hadn’t got to appreciate art face to face. I only did that from afar in movies and from social media. I got the honor to appreciate some fine art in person when I went to the Ghana National Museum last year in December 2022. The Ghana museum is home to so may beautiful designs that I was actually surprised to see a lot of beautiful art.
The art I saw represented the values of Ghana and our culture. Our festivals, dances, different tribes and a whole lot.

Honestly, you can interpret this in another way because we all see certain things differently.

This art above describes some of the Ghanaian culture with drumming and dancing.
If a lot more people took interest in art, it’ll be a wonderful venue for development. More people would have a livelihood and the artists would use it as a means to survive.
If you look at the crypto world, art plays a role here. Why do I say so? I’m sure by now we all have heard about NFTs and for a large part of it, NFTs are drawings, pictures and arts people design that we invest in.
So, aside the social world where art can tell a lot of importance, it plays a lot of roles in our financial lives as well.
