Oscillating audio
Many weeks has passed with no updates, but progress has been made and the game is nearing release. Have registered as a developer for all the intended platforms and created and uploaded native test builds. As soon as all audio is done, there will be a final sweep to fix up some bugs and last things on the list, after that all should be good to go. Release is imminent for Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, iOS and web!

Last few weeks focus has been on making sounds for the game. I have been using a plugin that gives you four oscillators to work with to create interesting sounds. Was a bit slow at the start as have not done anything like it in quite some time, when thinking about it the last time was 15 years ago! In 2003 and 2006 I did sounds for a Pac Man and Bubble Trouble clone, called Pac the Man X and Bub and Bob X. The sounds for those two projects were made with Reason using the Subtractor synth. Before showing the Hive P v. S updates, here are videos of the good 'ol games, enjoy!

Jump back to present day and here is a video of Hive P v. S with sounds created using Tracktion Waveform and the 4OSC plugin. For those interested, Tracktion offers a free version that is magnificently useful and also includes the 4OSC plugin. Well recommended for anyone interested in audio and want a solution that works on Windows, Mac and Linux (including Raspberry Pi!).
Thanks for reading, have a lovely weekend. (And I'm sure a few good weeks until next update)
About
Hive P v. S is a mashup of classic arcade games. You fly around collecting stars, each star collected spawn an entity that forms a tail that gets longer and longer. Avoid the tail for as long as possible until you get a power up that gives you a limited time to eliminate the tail. If successful you'll get bonus points and new stars are spawned. Rinse and repeat.
If the final score is high enough, you'll get the opportunity to submit the score to the high score table. The high score table is saved on Hive and is viewable on Hive as well as in-game for all users.
Game will be released for browsers, as a PWA and as native builds for mobile and computer platforms.
