Felipe Lopez impressively was the number eight overall pick in the 1998 MLB Draft! It's pretty tough to be a high MLB draft pick.
Lopez didn't exactly live up to expectations as a ridiculously high draft pick but he was a serviceable, competent player for eleven MLB seasons. He was also an All-Star AND a Silver Slugger in 2005 while a member of the Reds, so he definitely had some talent! He had a .292 batting average with 23 homeruns that season. Those were the only awards Lopez would win in the MLB.
Overall, Lopez was a real journeyman. He played for eight different teams from 2001-2011. Those teams were the Blue Jays, Nationals, Cardinals, Reds, Brewers, Diamondbacks, Rays and the Red Sox.
Lopez retired after playing in 1,185 games as a pro. He had 1,145 hits, 90 homeruns, 439 RBIs, and and a .264 career batting average.
