Charles Edward Greene, nicknamed "Mean Joe" Greene, is a former NFL defensive tackle and Pro Football Hall of Famer. Greene played for the Pittsburgh Steelers from 1969–1981, and was a key player in their "Steel Curtain" defense that helped them win four Super Bowls in six years. Greene was known for his toughness and leadership, earning the NFL's Defensive Player of the Year award in 1972 and 1974. In 1969, he was named Defensive Rookie of the Year.
