So as part of being part of the 500wordsaday community, I have to, well you know. As as of the time I'm starting to write this is just shy of 10 pm so guess I have no choice but more or less freewrite my way to the 500.
One of the sayings I've heard paraphrased many times when it comes storytelling specially for movies, novels, etc is; show don't tell, hint don't force feed, you'll be getting the exact opposite here, jumbled yet detailed mambo jambo overblown out of proportion like Rambo in a jungle. On the plus side though, there's bound some personal reflections in between the fillers.
Speaking of showcasing, I suck at choosing which pictures to put in my articles in order to elicit the wanted emotional responses, the darker the theme the better where my opinion usually stands, this time I'll use cats to offset all the negative energies I've unleashed on the hiveverse in my short not really stint here. Don't get used to it.

I'm really getting older. One of my high school classmates got married this weekend, another younger one is in labor and should be giving birth any moment now, and a drinking buddy of mine will also be a new dad come end of month.
Suffices to say that although there is no rush, I bet get my shit together and achieve at least one of those achievements..... in the next 5 to 10 years. Yeaaah, I'm not ready for all that, but whenever the time will come I hope I'll be both emotionally and financially ready.
Anyways, at least I won the bet against the guy that just got married. Which bet did I win I hear you ask?
Well, ever since the first day I met the dude in question, he was what you would call a player who was frustratingly good at his craft. Different girl every other day and always the hottest girls at that, he was rarely in a relationship and even when he was, you could be sure it wouldn't last a month, 2 months tops.
So every once in a while when the marriage topic would come up he would point out how marriage wasn't for him, how he wasn't built for it and how would surely be a player for his whole life. I of course, like the caring, perceptive, and more often than not blue balled friend would challenge his predictions by saying something along the lines;
Dude, I'm pretty sure you'll be one of the first among us to get married, if not the first.
And here we are now, many years later and I was right. Sadly such bets were usually made under the influence and are not legally binding, hence I can't go knocking his door down asking him to pay up, crap. Still, congrats to him, I wish them happiness and I hope he'll forever remember that I was right.
Speaking of players, the drinking buddy that will soon become a father was also a player but has calmed, still isn't in a rush to get married, just wants to take care of his kid.
The friend who is in labor will be a great mom. Any time now we'll get the good news of a healthy baby having been birthed, and together we'll distantly celebrate together.
