Life continues to be an exciting journey. My baby boy is about 9 months old now and, woah, it’s been a challenging but rewarding time.
We are now in the phase where he has started to crawl. We were just starting to get comfortable with the way things were but now it’s time to deal with a whole new set of challenges.
We luckily have been able to baby proof most of the house. My son has already proven he likes to get into things he’s not supposed to so we need to be extra vigilant in this next chapter.
I’m fortunately in a situation where my spouse can take time off from work just to focus on the kiddo. This will be very helpful as we enter this next phase of parenting.
I’m starting to get the feeling my spouse and I are a little too protective and will spoil this child too much. We got him a nice room to sleep in but we love still have him sleeping in a crib in our bedroom. We love waking up and seeing him sleeping there or waking up to his cute baby noises in the morning.
As my son continues to grow, I continue to be faced with the reality that my life has changed in a fundamental way and my responsibility for this baby and my family make my decisions even more crucial than they have ever been.
This new reality has motivated me to work harder, longer, and more efficiently. My level of motivation has reached a new peak that I never thought possible. I have been trying to take care of myself but also prioritize my family first. I’m hoping that if I continue to grow in my career, this will bring more financial security for my family. I want them to have everything they need to be successful, and I hope I can provide it now and in the future.
I have been away from my fellow Hivians more than I would like as of late. I believe this will only be temporary as my family continues to find a new groove with all the changes we have going on in our lives.
Balancing work, family, and play has been tough. It feels pretty obvious I’m stretched more thin than I was in the past. This means I need to be more efficient with the time I do have but I still can’t forget to make time for myself. All work and no play is no fun at all. I’m in an interesting situation where I live to work but also work to live. I love my job and it gives me purpose. I also work so that my family can have the best lifestyle I can provide to them. There is always going to be someone else that can provide more to their family than I can provide to mine, but I think that’s ok. My mandate is not to provide the most out of everyone, but to provide the most I can given my situation.
I look forward to continue working hard, spending that extra time I have with my son, and giving it my all in the things I pursue so my family can have the opportunity for a better life.
