The holy book has made us understand in the book of Gen1 that God used his mouth, (not his hands or legs) to create the universe. This has left us with a big food for thought how powerful this tongue is. If everything we are seeing today was made through just a spoken word, then there is a mystery behind the power of the tongue.
The tongue might be one of the smallest part of our body, but it is the most powerful, if misused it can set an entire clan on fire. We have been hearing how people die because someone somewhere said a thing or two to them and they couldn't hold on, now this is the power of the tongue, one does not even need a physical weapon to kill another, just a misuse of the tongue and boom, we are already hurting one another.
Conflicts and wars are settled with just the word "sorry" pronounced by the tongue, hoe powerful can one be? Then, what if the tongue never existed? On the other hand, wars and calamities comes to bay because of the misuse of the tongue and yet we are neglecting this aspect of life. Sometimes, the words we speak pierce others deeply that. A sword or bow could.
Also, have you ever wondered why God said He honour His words more than himself, the creator of the universe telling us how powerful words can be to the extent he honours it more than himself. This has been ringing a bell in my ears for quite a number of years now and I am trying to imagine how powerful this tongue could be, but the more I keep digging, the more I realize the mystery is endless.
Some people, especially parents misuse their tongue, we see a lot of parents cursing their children and when the children get to a certain level of their lives, this curses begins to hinder the effectiveness of their lives, thereby rendering them useless to the society and themselves. Sometimes these parents may not even remember they'd once said something bad out of anger to their children.
On the other hand, people are blessed by the tongue, the opportunities you get to see or the work we get to see is through communication that has been made. No doubt the bible has really been emphasizing on the need to tame our tongues and only use it for the betterment of ourselves and the church which is us and our brethren.
Most of us belongs to different religion and at some point, we use our mouth to proclaim our faith and what we stand for. We say prayers with our tongue, nevertheless, even when we meditate, at the end we will always tell others about the efficacy of our faith through proclaiming them.
In Conclusion
Our lives are shaped by what we hear, so however you want you life to be is determined by how well you can use your tongue. Don't let your tongue rule over you, learn to tame your tongue, it will only be a better world when the tongue is put to use rightly.
