Here’s a piece that means a lot to me a portrait of a young Black boy, drawn entirely using a scribble pen. It might look like hurrible at first glance, but every line has reason. What started as loose strokes slowly came together to form something raw, expressive, and alive.
There’s something deep in captivating about how the scribbles hold emotion. The way his eyes carries strength. The softness in his looks. The boldness of his hair. I didn’t want to just draw him I wanted to feel him on paper. I wanted you to see his innocence, his pride, and that quiet confidence that Black boys carry, even when the world doesn’t always make space for it.
This artwork reminds me why I love being an artist and why being Black is a masterpiece in itself.
