After getting a taste of the true possibilities of Survival mode, I made it a point to start playing Survival mode with my full Wild collection a few days earlier this season. That also meant I didn't have all my cards available to compete in @sps.dao tournaments, so I missed many more events than I'm used to. Did the sacrifice for Survival pay off? Let's get into the numbers and find out.

I put very little priority on playing Modern this season as I was busy with work and getting my students ready for their big state test. I made sure to win just enough battles to fight my way to Champion 1 so I would receive the full suite of reward chests. My win rate was one of my strongest, winning nearly 64% of my 83 Modern battles in S158.
In Wild, I fell just short of a Top 10 leaderboard spot, finishing in 11th with a 5820 rating. I played a lot of Wild battles this season, oftentimes using Glint to buy extra energy to play even more Wild battles! The bot won 258 of its 457 Wild battles for a 56.5% win rate.
Over in Survival mode is where the real magic happened. I started the Survival mode season in Diamond for the first time, so I earned considerably more SPS each battle due to my elevated starting league position. I also decided to make my full Wild collection available to use in Survival a lot earlier than just the last 2 days of the season, like I had in seasons before.
That allowed me to play 357 battles in Survival mode, using a mix of manual and automated play. I won 236 of 357 battles in Survival mode, for a 66% win rate and the top leaderboard position for Diamond league. Although I dropped 220 rating points and quie a bit of win rate over the last few battle sessions, it was still an amazingly success Ranked play campaign.

I definitely took a step from competitive tournament play with a bigger focus on Survival mode in S158. I had only registered for 21 events during the season, abstaining from some of the smaller Silver and Bronze events, and also because I missed signing up for the new batch of events that started in May.
I only earned 8112 SPS during the season, which is down around 40% from the levels I'm typically winning in a season. Of course, the biggest culprit is that I fled from a majority of the events over the season because my cards were on cooldown from Survival mode. Of the 21 events I entered, I missed 13 of them, only playing in eight.
That being said, earning an average of over 1000 SPS from each of the 8 events I actually competed in is a solid return rate. It helps a lot that I was able to score a Top 16 finish in both of the Diamond Gold Foil events. Next season, I should have a renewed focus on tournaments with Survival going on hiatus for a few adjustments from the team.

WOW! Look at those Survival Rewards. 14912 SPS is no joke, even if I did make a few sacrifices from my tournament winnings to secure the bag. 5973 SPS from Wild is another huge pile of ranked rewards, while my modest 1630 SPS from Modern is to be expected since I did not put such a big focus on manually playing in S158.
Based on SPS per win, I earned 30.75 SPS in Modern, 21.1 SPS in Wild, and 63.2 SPS in Survival. Those are some solid payoffs for ranked play.
Even the SPS per battle numbers look solid when accounting for all battles, not just wins. 19.6 SPS per battle in Modern, 13 SPS per battle in Wild, and 41.8 SPS per battle in Survival. Based on these results, my extra attention to Survival mode definitely paid off!

22516 SPS from Ranked play, goodness me, that is a beautiful total to see! Survival mode surely paid off big time!
Land returns are increasing nicely, with more focus on developing my lone rare occupied plot. I'm also working two aura lab plots on my magical plots, but after the initial Conclave Arcana rush on Midnight Potions, I'm just stacking aura instead of crafting more potions.
Brawl rewards improved slightly with a few first place finishes under our belts in Tier 5 brawl. Even SPS staking rewards have stayed a bit higher, as people unstaked SPS to burn for DEC to spend on the Conclave Arcana sale. I'll take it!
After what appeared to be my best earning season ever in S157, I came back in S158 and shattered the ceiling again. My additional attention to earning in Survival mode really paid off, as I finished S158 with 27190 SPS from my rewards report. Add in my 8112 SPS from tournament prizes for a sum of 35302 SPS earned from S158. Based on today's SPS spot price of 0.0094 USD, I earned over $330 in SPS value from last season. That's another huge win and good ammunition for me to reinvest the winnings into the new set, Conclave Arcana. We'll see how Modern ranked plays out with all the new cards next season.
