Before becoming an ESL Teacher at CIJ, I was just busy sleeping at home because it was our summer break, but I realized that my time spent at home was all wasted. So I decided to seek for a job opportunity. Luckily, my classmate in college introduced me to CIJ as they will be needing 80 ESL Teachers for their Summer Camp. I immediately grab the opportunity to teach since I am an education student, so I guess I can do well with this job.

The camp will end in 2 months, just right before our class resume. It was on the 27th of June when I apply at CIJ and in the same day, I was luckily hired on the spot. The application is a four way process. First is you have to submit your resumé in their email or have it walk in, next is you have to pass the interview, and the next one is the 200 items exam, and lastly the teaching demonstration.
Immediately after being hired, I was told to go back tomorrow for scheduled training. All in all, I trained for four days, 3 hours per day with pay, (Php. 240/day). After that, I was selected to be deployed, and started my duty on July 8, 2024.
Day 1

It was on the 8th of July when I started being an ESL Teacher, it was kind of nervous at first but teacher as we are, we have to cope up with those negative energies in order to teach our students well. On the same day we have our contract signing. Since it was our first duty, we facilitated the entrance test and level test of newly arrived students. After administering the test, we then took our lunch. After lunch we were told to accompany our students in the mall, as they will be having a shopping day.

At 1:00 P.M. we then walked through the Liloan Grand Mall together with our students, we finished shopping at around 4:00 P.M., and we then go back to CIJ. My first day was so tiring since, falling in line consumed our shopping time. We take longer time on the counter than shopping. My students even told me that in Korea it would only take a minute to pay at the counter. I then told him, "Welcome to the Philippines"! Kidding aside, I concluded my first day duty so tired but it was all fun.
Day 2

It was my 2nd day at work, I then proceed to my room and waited for my student. I only have 5 scheduled class for July 9, my first class is at 10:00 o'clock in the morning. It was really hard to teach students with zero English, you have to incorporate body languages for them to understand.

After my three one on one classes, I then proceed to the Pavilion for my P.E. class. I have with me another teacher to help. First is we do stretching, afterwards the students proceed to play whatever they want. Some played badminton and some played basketball. I was the teacher in charge to look for our students who are playing basketball. My student even told me to play with them and have 1 vs. 1 with them, but I just replied it's almost time. Hen then said, okay next time HAHAHA. But I have no plan of playing with them, can you suggest another possible reason to tell them why I can't play? Hahaah, anyway my P.E. class concluded my second day, we have no duties on Wednesday and Sunday unless told so.
If you want to apply just send your resumé in their official electronic mailing account or directly walk in at CIJ located at Poblacion, Liloan, Cebu at the back of Jollibee Liloan. Hurry, CIJ needs more teacher.
That's all for today Hive Fam, I hope you've enjoyed reading. Thank you and have a nice day ahead.❤️✨
