Today me and my colleagues offloaded 2,000 cartons of goods from a supplied truck . It was a challenge, but an experience that taught me the value of determination and teamwork . Among the ten of us assigned to the work, I was the youngest among them. Some of my colleagues thought that I would get tired halfway through the offloading but I have determined to stay active till the last carton is out of the truck.
This morning, the truck arrived at our warehouse earlier this morning and it was fully loaded with cartons of goods as expected. As soon as the Truck parked, we all gathered around to discuss how we are going to offload The cartons from the truck and the work was clearly a heavy duty task that will demand a lot of strength and endurance .Some of my older colleagues looked at me with doubt in their eyes wondering if I can be able to do the work with them, due to my status physical small and age also being the youngest among. But I took it upon myself that I will do the work till the last carton is out of the truck.
Our supervisor arranged for us and placed a role for all of us in the wherehouse. Each one of us already knows what to do and so we started moving the cartons from the truck directly to the store room upstairs ,carefully to avoid damage. I was among those that will take the goods directly from the truck to the store while some were tasked with arranging the goods at the back of the truck for easy carrying , others with assisting with dragging the wheelbarrow up the stairs to ease the workload on the loaders using the wheelbarrow to carry the goods
the pushing of goods with wheelbarrow up stairs was the most harder part and My supervisor decided to placed me there ,Despite under the hot sun I was not discouraged I keep pushing up and refuse to get tired until I take the last carton from the truck to store with a determined mindset
After working for a few hours , we took short breaks to refresh and stretch our bodies. I made sure that I came back from break before everyone else and to resume my position immediately after the break was over. At one point, one of the older colleagues tapped me on the shoulder and said, You’re really trying. I didn’t expect this kind of strength from you. That compliment just boosted my energy to do even better.
The work took several hours but our coordination and unity made it very easy to handle.Whenever someone felt tired, we encouraged each other. I supported others when they struggled. Despite being the youngest among my colleagues I remained active and focused, showing that age doesn't matter in the aspect of strength or work place.
Finally, after the long and exhausting process, we moved the last carton into the warehouse. The sense of accomplishment we all felt at that moment was incredible. My colleagues were excited .
Today, I gain little respect and recognition from my colleagues, just because of my determined mindset and the ability to push through challenges. I learned that no challenges will be too hard to handle when you put your mindset into it. Sometimes even when you are quiet, your actions will always speak for you in the future.
Offloading the 2,000 cartons from the truck was not just all about physical strength. but it requires a focused mindset, determination, zeal, teamwork that will bring out good results. I will always carry these lessons from today along with me, that anything I started with a determined mindset I Will end proudly.
