We are back home after a short vacation. While we are all happy to be home—as always—we are certainly not happy to arrive at 42 degrees Celsius from max 30, and the seaside breeze.
But at least we dodged some of it this week. We heard it was a really hard week for the ones in our region of the country because of the heat. That, of course, was sheer luck, because we couldn't know how the weather would be in either places when we made the reservations, even if they were made pretty late.
Do you like this picture?
I like it. Too bad it is only... partially true. This is the real one, not edited by one of the top image generation AIs provided by PeakD AI (FLUX Kontext Pro):
For those who don't know, that's called an "infinity pool". I was among them, before my sister mentioned it. Reason for the name seems obvious—because it is usually placed and built in a way that creates the illusion of the water extending "infinitely" toward the horizon. Extending the infinity pool with the sea or the skyline are probably the most used natural ways to create that illusion.
So... this one is on top of the 8+1 floors hotel where we were staying. We weren't actually guests of the hotel. We took an apartment through Airbnb which was housed in that hotel. It mattered that it was right next to the beach too.
About the infinity pool... Not much to say. Both I and my sister who went up there to take a look have sickness of heights (neither of us went closer than 2-3 meters of any sides, even if we explored the top on all sides and there were protective transparent guardrails everywhere). Besides, despite the wrong impression you might have gotten from the apparently empty pool, the place was packed with people and we couldn't find an empty seat anyway at the pool area at the time when we checked it out. So, we were happy with a couple of pictures, and promptly went down to the ground level again.
Overall, a pretty relaxing vacation. I wish it was longer, especially knowing the kind of heat we were coming back to, but these were the... constraints.
I mostly took a vacation from Hive too, with a few exceptions. Allowed me some reflection time, about which I'll probably talk tomorrow. Taking snapshots for Hive Portfolio worked like a charm using Termux, from my phone, so I haven't missed any day of data, something I am glad about.
I probably missed a lot. I'm not in a hurry to catch up.
I briefly saw the price evolutions in the crypto market. That makes me confident we will have a continued uptrend after this correction to the end of August or so.
