Although it was a bit late this year, our first snowstorm of the season isn't too shabby! Sadly though, the white floof will not be sticking around for long.
As I sit here and look at the several inches of fluffy beautifulness, I find my carcass seized with the desire to go out and get into a snowball fight fracas with the neighbor heathens, for I know that the frozen blanket is not going to be here for long.
Because that is the way it is when we get an El Nino winter in these parts. It gets cold, cold enough for precipitation to fall in snow form, then, as soon as it does start falling, we will get several inches (or feet) of snow following by a TON of rain.

I LOVE the snow in winter! I want all the floof to fall! What I absolutely despise is rain on top of the snow and a big freaking, sloppy, slushy mess! AAAAAHHHH!
Hmm. Now that I have that off my chest I feel strangely better. The weather forecast just harshed my loving of winter snow soul a bit.
But, I never let that get me down for too long, I mean, there's snow to play in!
As I type this the boy is dragging his snowmobile out of the equipment shed, the Corg is frolicking merrily nipping at the falling flakes, and the kittens, who have never witnessed frozen moisture, are in complete and utter cat awe out on the front porch.
Honestly, I am glad they are in a state of cat distraction because I put the Christmas tree up a couple of days ago and we have been going through that's not yours, get the H out of there training with the feline youngins for the past few days. Psy-cat-ic younglings they are!
I mean, I am thankful for the snow as a distraction measure for the kittens, as they are in that destructive teenager phase. I think I squirted Meatball with the spray bottle at least thirty-five times yesterday. I know he knows what it means, but that still didn't stop him from kidnapping my pink vinyl dishwashing glove and leaving it in a random place during the night. What a little heathen he is, but he's also cute. It's like being mad a precocious toddler, they know they got the goods on ya, but it's also more than a bit fun watching them get all mad when you correct them. Good times.
So, this missive will be short, as I want to go enjoy all that lovely, fresh snow before the three days of subtropical rain arrive. I'm really hoping the jet stream just shimmies a bit to the left or right this year so that we can have some staying snow, even if it's only for a few weeks.
Please, Santa, please!
