Tuburan National High School - Tuburan, Cebu, Philippines
Days at work are something I really look forward to. Everyday is a chance to learn new things and gain new knowledge. This school year, one of the subject I handle is Personal Development. This subject is one of the best subjects to handle since most lessons are those which really are essential in real life and the ones that you could really use in the long run.
I love the idea of being able to share to my learners lessons that I learned not only from books but also from real-life scenarios. Despite being 28, I already believe that I already had the fair share of experiencing life at an early age.
Days after the day I turned 18 was when I got my first ever job as a call center agent under Sprint. It was the most memorable experience I had since I really had the chance to learn so much about life and the reality of how hard adulting is.
I was able to deal with a lot of people, from my workmates, my superiors and my customers from US which had different personalities and which all came from different upbringings. I really learned a lot of lessons from the people I always interacted with.
Now that I am a teacher and I handle the subject Personal Development, I can really say I am a testament of an improved personality. I have matured and I am constantly looking for ways to improve each day.
Our current topic in my subject "Personal Development" is about the physical, psychological , emotional and cognitive changes that happen during adolescence.
I instructed them per group to create their own standee which showcases the changes of men and women. They are grouped and they did their reporting. Here are some photos of my learners and their output.

As we all know, adolescence stage comes with a lot of changes. Some which are really visible changes and some which just happens just within.
Adolescents as they are now, they can truly testify about these physical changes which they encounter themselves.
Not only does adolescents encounter physical changes, but they also undergo emotional changes, psychological changes as well which helps them become more mature and more equipped with proper skills as to how to handle life and how to handle challenges appropriately. Our discussion highlighted the importance of developing ways on how to manage the challenges adolescents encounter.
This topic is interesting for them because they can indeed relate. Some of them shared their own life experience as to how they handle challenges and how they were able to resolve it. Challenges such as school works, family problems, conflict with friends and peers and so much more.
It is evident these days that this generation of our youth are really prone to suicide and depression, therefore as teachers, given that we are their second parents I see to it that my learners will always have a safe haven once they go to school. I always remind them that whenever they face problems and challenges, they have their classmates and friends who are willing to listen, and they have me, their teacher who is willing to listen always to whatever problems and challenges they face. It is important that they have someone to vent our their problems to.
Doing this activity was so much fun because it awakened their creativity and it boosts their teamwork skills as they are working by group.
They were all able to discuss it well and I am so proud they were able to perform. There could be some improvements on their artworks but the important thing is they did these on their own.
Not only are they learning but also they had so much fun while doing the process.
To more fun memories at school indeed. Ciao! ❤️
