Yesterday, one of my nieces turned 15. Valentina is actually my grand niece since she is my eldest nephew's daughter.
One of the greatest things that have happened to us since we moved to Caracas has been to be able to share with my nephew's wonderful family. Valentina is a great girl, super smart and responsible and I have been teaching her English in any free time she has from school.
Unlike most girls these days, she did not demand a grand Quinceañera Party.
She was ok with a dinner of her choice with a few close cuesta (mostly family).
My nephew and his wife, after some last-minute cancelations, got a reservation at this place in Colinas de Bello Monte.
I had an online work meeting from 4:30 to 6:30, so I had to stay connected via my phone while we were driving to the restaurant. I was able to be and participante in my meeting and then share with family without much to worry.
@manujune and her mom had worked the night before on a frame that they gave Tina as a birthday present (along with a gorgeous top @manujune knitted herself.
The environment at the restaurant was very friendly. There were other diners and they actually joined in in the cheering when the mariachis arrived. In Venezuela, it is customary to have a mariachi band for such a special birthday.
We also had the chance to dance the customary vals, although I must confess I was not my best this time. The good thing was that we were so happy and in such a friendly environment that the embarrassment did not last much.
The food and attention was five-starred. We stayed until almost midnight and then went back home.
I am very happy I had the chance to shared this moment with my nephew's family. They have done a great job raising their girl and she deserved all the special attention she got!
