Today, we got up early and headed to the Saime (Administrative Service of Identification, Migration and Foreigners by its spanish achronym) to have @imabby17's "migration error" corrected.
By 6 am there was already a huge line of about 100 people. Luckily, not many of them were there for the same reason and they were separated in different lines. Company was not allowed, so I had to give her my debit card so she could pay the "fine" (which was imposed for her failure to have her passport stamped when she entered the country from Brazil. Only problem: it was not like she avoided or refused it; no SAIME authority on the Venezuelan side of the fricking border was there to do it).
I was very nervous not knowing how long it would take for her to have this process done or in case there was any complication. Fortunately, it was very fast. They just wanted the $30. They did not even brother to ask for the copies we had been told She's need to submit.
Being relieved of such mortification and having now a couple of more days to share in Caracas, we decided to walk around and run as many errands as possible. @imabby17 wanted to Buy some things for her boyfriend and some friends and relatives, so we started the long walk.
First stop was La Hollada clothes market. It took us a while to by find a place that sold soccer jerseys from Venezuelan teams. It was about 9 am and most were closed. You could find jerseys from any famous soccer team in the world, but not one from Caracas Fútbol Club 🤭
We did find one for $15 and started looking for a place where we could have a name printed on the back. That mission was impossible in that área. We have to go back to that some other day.
We walked back to the Capitol area, pausing every block to take some pictures.
We walked around the colonial district.
Again, Bolivar's house was not Open for a tour (no sign indicating when, if ever either), so, we just walked around that block taking pictures right and left.
This statue I particularly like.
This monument makes little sense aesthetically, but it looks good with a great model in front.
Then, she wanted some small souvenirs
And there were quite a few to choose from.
We stopped at Bolivar Square to rest and had the most amazing time with these cute dark squirrels.
They were restless as ever, but unusually willing to accept food and some love from visitors.
We we're very tired and there was yet another outing for the afternoon, but that will go into another post.
