Running errands in Puerto Ordaz...
Can be very frustrating for three main reasons: transportation, prices and the weather. It feels like the city was designed for people with cars and money.
As I usually do when I stay in a different place, I try to leave it better than I found it. Whatever little detail I can contribute to improve, I do it.
I scanned the apartment where my daughters live and noticed that there were some big repairs pending (which unfortunately I cannot afford to help with). However, there were little things like a basket, wood-like contact paper, a shower head or spray bottles that I could definitively get for them.
@imabby17 woke up late and was expecting a visit, so I decided to go just with @annaky.
After a trying couple of stores, we found an affordable paper/trash basket. We walked a few blocks to a mall to try to find other ítems in our to-do list.
The weather was sunny and hot.
We found the shower head, but other things were too expensive. We headed back to get some things at a supermarket when all of a sudden, it rained like it had been cloudy all day. I have her the poncho I always carry just in case.
We walked a block or two, then the sun came back up with a vengeance. A few blocks later, when @annaky took it off because she felt she was boiling in it, it ran again. We had to run into a supermarket to avoid getting drenched. Our shoes we're a mess anyway.
I just can't believe the difference in prices of all kinds of productos here. A pair of shoes that cost 35$ in Caracas cost 75$ in Puerto Ordaz (same brand and model, same store).
The dollar-Bolivar struggle continues and Bolivar is being trampled miserably. 1 year ago You needed 40 Bs to buy 1 dollar. Now, you need more than 120 (This is an artificially regulated number that sooner or later will be unleashed).
Ironically, these bonbons are cheaper here than in Caracas. We saw a 3-pack for $6 in Caracas .
We had lunch and then some pie. They went back to their manicure thing while I took a nap.
My daughters went to the gym and later we may go out to a nearby park (if it doesn't rain).
