It was a rare day for me, one of a kind, because it was my first time selling off my jewellery. I had never owned any expensive jewellery except the ones given to me for my wedding gifts. One from my parents and one from my Aunt (my Mum's sister). However, we need to boost up our cash flow and at the same time, gold price suddenly increased, I gave it some thoughts and finally decided to sell it off, knowing that this will be of super great help for my husband, the main provider who had been working hard dor us.🥰 Luckily my parents did remind me that time to always keep the receipt in case I wanted to sell it off in the future, the receipts will be of good use. Let's!
Oh yes, I also did ask my sons whether do they want to keep Mummy's wedding necklaces for their future wives. My eldest said he wasn't keen and preferred that time to buy again according to wife's preference. Ok, set!
Before selling off the necklaces, let me take some photos for memories' sake! It was such nice necklaces and I had never worn them before because I just did not dare to wear gold on my neck. So I kept them well for 16 years.
We went out together as a family, and my mother-in-law tagged along too since she did it before at a shop called Jewel Cafe and thinking that there would be some perks since she signed up as member of the shop. I passed my two necklaces to the person-in-charge to be valued.
It was such a cute nice shop with an area to serve us snacks and drinks. My husband and I had coffee while waiting for the valuation.
Some photos at the shop and also because I really liked the soft toy bear with JC logo, reminded me of Jesus Christ instead of Jewel Cafe. Lol...
To my disappointment, they quoted me low and out of my expectation. I was expecting to earn back 100% due to gold all time high now. They lady kindly explained to us the reason and that the patterns on my necklaces caused the density reading to me very low. I told them then I would not sell it at that price. They were very nice and friendly to accept my decision.
Next....
Since I bought it at Poh Kong and I had the receipt, we went to Poh Kong and straight away asked whether do they buy back their own jewelleries? They said yes!!! I was stoked because I thought they would not. Luckily we gave it a try to ask Poh Kong. I passed my necklaces and receipts to the lady and she straight away gave me the value in a second of pressing the calculator, telling us the price of 916 gold at the moment and that Poh Kong will earn 30% out of it. The price was good and was in my expectation, I earned 100%, so I decided to sell it. I felt emotional for a split of second but I told God that these jewelleries could not last forever, and I couldn't bring them to heaven when I died, however the good deeds I can do out of selling it will remain forever. That's it! Sold!!!
After that, we went for lunch at Banana Bro and had a great time chit chatting and catching up with Mum. It was indeed a memorable day for me, one I felt a mixture of sentiment and emotion and a sense of fulfillment. This can definitely help to boost up our cash flow. Thank God for a good price!!!
