Hello my dear Hivers!
Today, I just want to share what happened to my day, even if it's still technically our vacation time.
In our group chat, our program coordinator messaged us saying that we had an orientation for interns. Even though we’re on break, we understood why ma’am messaged us because our OJT usually takes place during the summer. And honestly, the moment I read the message, I started to feel nervous thinking about where I might get assigned. A few days before, she already told us personally that she would be strict during the orientation and that she’d be announcing our assignments.
We’re going to be assigned to different places, some places will have only one or two students, others three, while some will have more than five. It really depends.
For me, I really wanted to be assigned to probation office because I think it's a real, world setting where I can really face and understand how life is in that field. Even if I already have some knowledge about probation, I think there is still a lot that I can learn, especially once I am on duty. Another place I hoped that he was San Remigio, where the person training us is only one speaker from our pinning ceremony. Before the orientation day arrived, I was really hoping that I would be assigned to at least one of those two places. By the way, there are more than five possible locations that ma’am could assign us to, so I really kept manifesting that I’d get placed in either the Probation Office in Bogo City (which is just one ride away) or San Remigio (which may take more than one ride, but I still wanted to go there!).
When the day came, ma’am started the orientation and informed us of the do's and don’ts. The type of OJT we’re doing isn’t entirely new to me since I’ve already been a working student in a big organization. What is new this time that our Ojt will include fieldwork, in contrast, the contrast was more on the white-collar duties. But I am fine with it, I am open to new experiences and learning opportunities. Yes, I am really excited to dive into it. A few minutes later, we were given our assignments, and yes, I was a super nervous!
When ma’am started announcing the Batch 1 students who will be assigned this summer to PPA, my name was included. Out of 41 students, only 9 were assigned there, so I’m really grateful I was one of them!
In my friend group, there are 8 of us, and luckily, one of my close friends, Keziah, was assigned to PPA too. That made me really happy.
After the orientation, it was still early and we were already hungry. One of our groupmates combined their breakfast and lunch earlier in the day, so they got hungry quickly. We decided to go eat too. Good thing the orientation ended around 3 PM.
We ended up eating at Bogo Pantaland, and as usual, we chose our favorite student, friendly meal, buchi with puso rice!
And that is all for today’s blog, my dear Hivers! Thank you so much for reading!
