The first semester of the school year has come to an end, which means it’s time to reset and have a fresh start for a new semester. Today seems like a perfect day for me to organize my school things. I always do this after each semester or quarterly grading period to have a fresh start for the next semester.
The previous semester was stressful and exhausting. I struggled to keep my notes organized and often crammed my school activities. I found it difficult to focus on my studies. Next time, I need to cut back on distractions and reduce my time on scrolling through social media and playing mobile games.
Anyway, here’s what I did today.
1. Washing My Bags
I’ve been using my bag for months without giving it a proper wash. I kept telling myself to wash it. However, I never found the time to do it.
While I was removing my stuff inside my bag, I realized it was a mess. I even found some coins, unexpectedly.
2. Organizing My Notebooks and Folders
I tend to use a lot of paper when taking notes, so after a semester, there are a lot of papers in my folder and my notebook.
I also prefer writing on paper when I’m reviewing as it helps me to memorize and understand the lesson easily. Hence, after a semester, the pages of my notebook are almost used. That’s why I bought a refillable binder notebook. This way, I can simply refill it when needed.
I also found these paper refills online. I’ve got both papers with lines and a blank paper. This one has a better quality than what I used before.
3. Organizing my books and pens
Since it’s a new semester, there will be new subjects, which means a new set of books is needed. However, not all subjects are required to have books since most teachers provide a PowerPoint presentation of the lesson.
Likewise, I also bought a new ballpen. It sounds a bit strange but having a new ballpen makes me feel more productive to take some notes, especially when it has a comfortable grip.
4.Preparing Myself Mentally and Physically
I know that the next semester will be more busier and stressful, especially when we will be doing our research project. Sleepless nights are on its way!
Therefore, I’ve planned to prioritize getting more sleep and just enjoy the weekends. I’m giving myself time to relax, reflect on myself, and rest before diving into a new semester.
For this upcoming semester, I’ll focus more on reviewing my notes and preventing myself from falling asleep during class. Most importantly, I’ll do my school activities on time and avoid procrastination.
I know that my performance in the previous semester wasn't what I hoped for, and my grades didn't meet my expectations. But that’s not a reason to feel discouraged. It will be my motivation to do better this time around!
