So today marks the second day after concluding my exams which dragged on for three full weeks. well, it still feels a bit unreal. I’m still feeling nervous about the results, which, from what we heard, should come out today. no excuses this time.
But then again, I know I’m not the only one in this state. Honestly, the whole class is probably just as tense, whether they’re showing it or not. You can almost smell the anxiety in the air when you walk past my hostel corridors.
But really what can I do about it? Worrying non stop will only make it worse. So, I made a small decision today to distract myself and focus on other things I love doing when I’m free.
This morning, after lying on my bed and staring at the ceiling for a while, I figured, “I need to watch a movie and waste some time.”
I went on Facebook to check out the movie page where I usually get recommendations. After scrolling past a few dull options, one caught my eye. it has this title I Came By. The title alone sounded mysterious, so I didn’t waste time. Straight to my MovieBox app to search for it.
Before downloading though, I quickly skimmed through reviews. As expected, some people praised it while others trashed it.I wasn’t surprised though because no movie pleases everybody.
Anyway, I had enough data, and my spirit needed anything but silence, so I clicked the "download."
One thing I really love about MovieBox is that you can start watching while the movie is still downloading. No unnecessary waiting. Seriously, I don't know why other apps haven't figured that out yet. It's such a life saver, especially when you’re running away from your thoughts.
The first 10 to 15 minutes of I Came By were so boring that I even thought about switching it off. It was confusing too and I couldn’t fully connect with the story.
But I reminded myself: the whole point of watching this movie was just to keep my mind busy, not to become a film critic. So I kept watching.
Before I knew it, I was hooked. No joke. Somewhere along the line the plot pulled me in so much that I didn’t even realize the download had finished.
By the time it ended... wow. I just lay there staring at the screen. The ending broke me a little bit; it’s one of those movies that can make you feel things you didn't expect. You should definitely check it out if you like thrillers with a twist. (But don’t blame me if you cry.)
Anyway, around 10 a.m. I finally dragged myself out of my bed and went to brush my teeth. The funny thing is while brushing, I almost used my face soap instead of toothpaste to tell you how much distracted I was.
While still brushing, my phone started buzzing. It was my guy Bob calling me on WhatsApp. I picked up, foam still in my mouth and we ended up having a long conversation about everything school, my exams, even random plans we know we won’t keep.
After the call, hunger finally won the battle. I checked my cupboard and thanked God I still had my chocolate powder and milk. The only thing missing was the precious bread.
So, I threw on a hoodie (because Enugu sun is unforgiving) and dashed to the open store which is near my hostel. I grabbed a loaf of Majesty bread (1k) since I didn’t feel like trekking all the way to Roban or Spar for my favorite ones.
Back to my room, I didn’t waste time. I made my tea sharp-sharp and devoured it like a hungry lion. The bread smelled fresher than usual today, maybe hunger just made everything better.
The breakfast didn’t even last 15 minutes before I was full and gulped down a sachet of water to "balance it out," as my mom would say.
After that, I jumped back into bed not to sleep, but just to relax and let digestion do its thing. That’s when I decided to write this article for today's post.
While typing, I’m thinking I might watch another movie later or maybe pick up something to read. Honestly, I’m just flowing with the day. No pressure. No serious planning.
So yeah, that's how today is going.
By the time I post this, my results may already be out or maybe they’ll delay it again. Either way, I trust God completely. I did my best, and that’s enough.
