One of the questions that arose before we set off on our three-week motorhome trip was how we were going to shower. So far, I didn't know what the layout of the spaces inside our motorhome was like, but to my surprise, the place had a small bathroom. In it, there was a tank where you could fill up some hot water to take a quick shower and get out of a hurry, but honestly it was not the most comfortable conditions for everyone. To solve this, what my fellow travellers and I did was to get a shower service in the hostels, although sometimes this experience was no better than the one we had in the bus 🙃.
Uno de los interrogantes que surgió antes de emprender nuestro viaje de tres semanas en el motorhome fue cómo haríamos para ducharnos. Hasta el momento, yo no sabía como era la distribución de los espacios dentro de nuestra casa rodante, pero para mi sorpresa, el lugar contaba con un pequeño baño. En él, había un tanque en donde se podría cargar algo de agua caliente para tomar una ducha rápida y salir del apuro, pero honestamente no eran las condiciones más cómodas para todos. Para solucionar esto, lo que hacíamos mis compañeros de viaje y yo era conseguir un servicio de duchas en los hostels, aunque en ocasiones esta experiencia no era mejor que la que teníamos en el bus 🙃.
Our days in the motorhome passed peacefully as we moved to our main destinations. It took us two nights in total to get to the area we would be touring, after travelling over 1800 km on the roads of Argentina. I have visited the south of my country several times before, both by car and by plane, so I know it is a long and somewhat tiring journey. But this time we were 14 people in total (plus a beautiful dog), so the journey was not at all tiring 😃.
Nuestros días en el motorhome transitaron en paz mientras nos movíamos hacia nuestros destinos principales. Llegar hasta la zona por la que estaríamos paseando nos tomó dos noches en total, después de recorrer más de 1800 km en las rutas de Argentina. Yo ya visité el sur de mi país varias veces, tanto en auto como en avión, así que sé que se trata de un viaje largo y algo agotador. Pero esta vez éramos 14 personas en total (más un hermoso perro), así que el trayecto no se hizo para nada pesado 😃.
For a fairly small space, the motorhome was comfortable to live in. Each of us had our own bed, a place on the couch in the living room and a place to store our belongings. The bus driver was very responsible with your work, and every now and then we stopped to rest for a while. We visited several gas stations on this trip, where everyone took the opportunity to relax a bit or eat something, although after two days I got bored with fast food and chose to eat something a bit lighter 😅.
Para ser un espacio bastante reducido, habitar el motorhome era cómodo. Cada uno de nosotros tenía su propia cama, un lugar en el sillón en el living y un espacio para guardar sus pertenencias. El chofer del micro era muy responsable con tu trabajo, y cada tanto parabamos a descansar un poco. Visitamos varias estaciones de servicio en este viaje, donde cada uno aprovechaba para distenderse un poco o comer algo, aunque después de dos días la comida rápida me aburrió y elegí comer algo un poco más liviano 😅.
The first destination we reached was San Martín de los Andes, in the province of Neuquén. Another of my questions was where we were going to park the bus, whether in a campsite or something, but our driver had already studied where to stop in each case. In the case of San Martin, there was a free car park right by the lake, so that was our location for three nights. Even this place had a better view than many of the more luxurious accommodations in the area 😃.
El primer destino al que llegamos fue San Martín de los Andes, en la provincia de Neuquén. Otro de mis interrogativos era donde íbamos a estacionar el bus, si en algún camping o algo, pero nuestro chofer ya tenía muy estudiado en donde frenar en cada caso. En el caso de San Martín, había un parque de estacionamiento libre justo a orillas del lago, por lo que esa fue nuestra ubicación durante tres noches. Incluso este lugar tenía mejor vista que muchos de los alojamientos más lujosos de la zona 😃.
Although we didn't move much in the three days we were travelling, you can imagine that by that time we all needed a good shower. Some of my companions and I were able to shower at the first gas station we stopped at, but my experience was terrible. I ended up taking a shower in freezing cold water in the middle of winter, so I didn't want to have a bad time again. That's why as soon as we arrived, we looked for a hostel where we could take a bath in a real bathroom, and we got one that cost us 5000 ARS ($4 approx) 😃.
Si bien no nos movimos mucho en los tres días que estuvimos viajando, se imaginarán que para ese momento ya todos necesitabamos una buena ducha. Algunos de mis compañeros y yo nos pudimos bañar en la primera estación de servicio que habíamos parado, pero mi experiencia fue terrible. Terminé duchandome con agua helada en pleno invierno, así que no quería volver a pasarla mal. Por eso fue que ni bien llegamos, buscamos un hostel en el que pudiéramos bañarnos en un baño de verdad, y conseguimos uno que nos costó 5000 ARS ($4 aprox) 😃.
When I thought that on my second attempt I was going to have a pleasant bath with hot water, this was not the case at all. The water came out as cold or worse than at the service station. Apparently, several people had tried to take a bath at the same time, so the water tank was not enough for everyone and I had to take one of the worst parts. It felt very frustrating to have paid so much to have a terrible experience, but there was no chance of getting my money back 🙃.
Cuando pensé que en mi segundo intento iba a tener un placentero baño con agua caliente, esto para nada fue así. El agua salió igual de fría o peor que en la estación de servicio. Aparentemente, varias personas habíamos intentado bañarnos a la vez, por lo que el tanque de agua no dio abasto para todos y yo tuve que llevarme una de las peores partes. Se sintió muy frustrante haber pagado tanto como para tener una experiencia terrible, pero no había ninguna chance de tener mi dinero de vuelta 🙃.
The good thing about the whole experience was that my fellow travellers and I, now clean, showered and perfumed, decided to go to a bar for some beer. The city of San Martin de los Andes is one of the most touristic in the region, so its nightlife is quite extensive, plus we were in the middle of the winter high season. It wasn't difficult to find a bar where we could sit down for a while to complain and share some gossip as we were getting more confident ❤️.
Lo bueno de toda esta experiencia fue que mis compañeros de viaje y yo, ahora limpios, bañados y perfumados, decidimos ir a un bar a tomar algo de cerveza. La ciudad de San Martín de los Andes es una de las más turísticas de la región, por lo que su oferta nocturna es bastante amplia, además de que estábamos en plena temporada alta de invierno. No se nos hizo difícil encontrar un bar para sentarnos un rato a quejarnos y compartir algunos chismes mientras íbamos entrando en confianza ❤️.
That was the second and last time I paid for a shower. After that, I chose to always bathe in the motorhome, where the space and the amount of water were small, but at least I could make sure it was warm and not get cold at the end of it all. On our three-week trip in the motorhome we had several new experiences, and this one of looking for a comfortable bath was one of them. At least it was funny and we could laugh about it afterwards, but I assure you that the last thing I wanted to do when I was bathing in the freezing water was to laugh 😅.
Esa fue la segunda y última vez que pagué por una ducha. Después de eso, elegí bañarme siempre en el motorhome, donde el espacio y la cantidad de agua eran pequeñas, pero al menos podía asegurarme de que estuviera caliente y no pasar frío al final de todo. En nuestro paseo de tres semanas en el motorhome vivimos varias experiencias nuevas, y esta de estar buscando un baño cómodo fue una de ellas. Al menos fue gracioso y pudimos reirnos de esto después, pero les aseguro que al momento de bañarme con el agua helada lo último que quería hacer era reirme 😅.
