「 Hello, August !」
Where I am from, August is the month of festivities. Throughout the month leading up to independence day, people are organizing various activities and gathering. Last year, I got involved in a community event and I wonder if this year, they will organize similar events in the area. While I am pretty excited about this month, I also think about a lot of things in my life that can be improved too.
Last month, my life was more about intentional living, trying to reconnect and settling around my new place. If you ask me if I am successful enough, I think I did. There were fears that were holding me back for years that were eventually lifted out. At the same time, I started going on-site Sunday Service which really adds something new to my entire week. I wonder why I didn’t really start sooner because it turned out to be one of the most enjoyable activities I’ve done in my entire week.
And other than the regular Sunday Service, my new friends and I are doing weekly scripture studies. We recently started and it’s great to have some discussion regarding the scripture with others from different backgrounds than I do. I can only wish, we would be consistent in doing it 😆
One of the things that I am obsessed with lately is eating healthier. It’s very easy for me to fall back on eating poorly and unhealthy. So, I am trying to go back to my regular meal plan or something similar to what I used to eat back in the day. I’ve noticed that one of the biggest problems of mine was my sleeping problems. I tend to choose unhealthy food when I am extremely sleep deprived or if I’ve been sleepless.
It’s ironic for me to say but If you want to fix any of your health problems, fix your sleep.
Ever since my father passed away almost 4 months ago, my sleep has been pretty awful. That is to say, my health was declining too. I got sick a bit too often and felt like life was going into a downward spiral. I didn’t really like how it felt but only in the last couple of weeks, I fixed my sleep and even felt a lot healthier than I’ve ever been.
Last month, I really wanted to stay consistent writing a blog but life happens. You know, it’s funny because I am 28 and I should have life figured out by now but the truth is, I am still in a constant exploring and learning. For example, I found that I’ve been overexercising for a long time which caused me to get so drowsy during the day. When I actually fix it, I don’t have that problem anymore. Or you know, that preference to wake up early in the day, I am talking about 2-3 AM rather than 5 AM or something. It sounds crazy but it works for me.
For someone who loves caffeine and coffee so much, these days I actually reduce my caffeine intake. I only get one cup or two during the day and before 3 PM. You know, I heard that theory somewhere in a podcast or some youtube guy, but that works. I get to sleep early and haven't been having any sleep issues lately. So, this is a good habit that I am fostering this August and hopefully sticks where I am not consuming caffeine excessively anymore.
I’ve been reading some books lately and my collection is growing over my google books. I decided that I am skipping to get any physical book this year but relied on e-book. I’ve been interested in R.F Kuang but I am still saving up because her series can get pretty expensive. I want to collect all of her The Poppy War Series. It’s a trilogy set in a fictional country that is inspired by China during the 20’s. I guess it gets popular because these days Chinese Mythology is picking up and this is the prime year for it. So far, I’ve read only the sample available and I got so engrossed into the story. It’s just so fresh and I think it needs to be highlighted more.
Last but not least, the moon has been pretty these past few days. I found new ways to take pictures of it. Which you can also see on the thumbnail and some are included below. That being said, see you around and I hope this August, I can be more active than previous months.
