Today, I'm going to share my experience at the grocery store.
Remember the time, when we went to the grocery store with my baby Aiden and hubby?
As we decided to check out our basket, I tried to pay using GCash, opting for the convenience of online payment over traditional cash.
However, as I opened the app, the payment process flashed an error message.
At that moment, I felt a surge of frustration.
I tried again, but the same error message appeared.
I took a deep breath and attempted it a few more times, hoping that persistence would pay off.
Finally, after several tries, the payment went through, and I breathed a sigh of relief.
With our groceries paid for, my hubby and I walked to set off.
That time, I pulled out the receipt to double-check the items we'd purchased.
That's when I noticed something strange.
One of the items wasn't listed on the receipt.
It seemed we got it for free.
At first, I was tempted to let it slide, thinking it wasn't a big deal.
But then I thought about how I'd feel if I were the store owner or the cashier.
I wouldn't want someone to take advantage of my business, even if it was an honest mistake.
So I turned to my hubby and said that the cashier missed scanning one item, so we should go back and let her know.
My hubby agreed that it was the right thing to do.
So we headed back to the store, and I approached the cashier.
I said that she has missed scanning the item, and we will pay for it.
The cashier thanked us and quickly scanned the item.
I then paid the additional amount and left the store once again.
This experience taught me an invaluable insight.
That honesty isn't just about doing the right thing when it's easy.
It's about doing it even when it's inconvenient.
And it's not just about following rules or avoiding trouble.
It's about building trust and respect for others.
