This was a regular day for me, with handling house chores and doing online jobs at home, as usual. However, there is one thing that made me smile and suddenly become one of my favorite routines. It’s none other than the bath time of our cute and cuddly fur baby.
This morning, I gave our Shih Tzu a refreshing bath. His name is Chase and he was a gift to us. Chase was only a puppy when he came and become a member of our family. Now, he was already a year and two months old. But, here’s the truth! I never dreamed of having a pet dog for many reasons. I used to think that it requires much of our time, attention, and even our budget. So, when Chase arrived, I felt that it was really love at first sight!
Fast forward to this morning scenario: I put so much care while I was preparing my fur baby’s warm water, doggy essentials, and his towel. That moment can be compared to getting ready in pampering a real royalty.
Today, dog’s bath time is not just an ordinary routine for me anymore. It’s already our bonding moment.
As I call out his name with a cheerful “Let’s go, let’s go. Time to take a bath!”, he wiggles his tail as a sign of excitement. Inside the bathroom, I started to gently wet his fur and lather his shampoo over it slowly. It really feels satisfying seeing him calm and quiet, allowing me to scrub all the dirt that his fur gets while running and rolling around the house. That moment feels like he fully trusted me and trust means everything.
Another exciting part of bathing a dog is the post-bath scenarios. As he rolled out of his towel, his energy began to unleash as he proudly wanted to say he’s clean and free. He runs non-stop inside the house as if he never mind someone or anything around. He owns the whole floor as his racetrack.
After all of the running and chasing, he relaxed and settled down on his couch, looking clean and feeling fresh as he is. I brushed his fur until it dried a little so it would not get matted. His round eyes stared at me telling that he’s proudly clean and fresh. And that moment hit me again that makes me feel the bond that developed on this simple routine.
Again, never did I imagine that a simple dog bath could be the best part of my day. But, honestly, today it was! It reminded me to stop for a while, live the moment, and find joy in simple things.
While writing this, Chase is sitting beside me, clean, cuddly and doing his adorable doggy things.
How about you? Do you also have a pet? Please share how you spend your bonding moment! No matter if it is just a simple play time, bath time, or cuddle time - the simplest things are actually the ones that make the best part of life.
