El día 17 del mes de julio, la Coral del Colegio de Médicos Veterinarios, que tiene por nombre "María de Lourdes Salón", a la cual pertenezco desde hace nueve años, fue invitada a una actividad en el Iutar (Instituto Universitario Tecnológico Antonio Ricaurte), en la ciudad de Maracay, Venezuela.
On July 17, the Choir of the College of Veterinary Medicine, which if called "María de Lourdes Salón", of which I have been a member for nine years, was invited to an event at IUTAR (Antonio Ricaurte University Institute of Technology) in the city of Maracay, Venezuela.
Se estaba inaugurando el XIX Salón Internacional de Arte Postal en homenaje al libro, con la participación de artistas de veinte países.

Esa mañana salí de la casa con mi uniforme que es una blusa de color azul, pantalones y zapatos negros. Había acordado con una amiga que vive cerca que nos iríamos juntas caminando porque el I Instituto nos queda cerca. Yo la fui a buscar al edificio donde ella vive, me puse a esperar, faltaban ya cinco minutos para las 10 a. m. y el director nos había dicho que estuviéramos a las 10 para calentar la voz y ensayar. Le envié un mensaje y no le llegó.
That morning, I left the house wearing my uniform, which consists of a blue blouse, black pants, and black shoes. I had agreed with a friend who lives nearby that we would walk together because the I Institute is close to us. I went to pick her up at the building where she lives and waited. It was already five minutes before 10 a.m., and the director had told us to be there at 10 a.m. to warm up our voices and rehearse. I sent her a message, but she didn't receive it.

Me quedé sorprendida y le respondí que la estaba esperando porque habiamos acordado irnos juntas. Ella me dijo que me había estado llamando, pero no tenía ninguna llamada perdida y que me había enviado unos mensajes por WhatsApp que tampoco me llegaron.
I was surprised and replied that I was waiting for her because we had agreed to leave together. She told me that she had been calling me, but I didn't have any missed calls, and that she had sent me some messages on WhatsApp that I didn't receive either.
Me fui muy apurada y llegué, por supuesto, después de la hora, sudada y un poco molesta. Pero la música es un bálsamo para calmar el estrés y me incorporé al grupo que todavía estaba practicando.
I left in a hurry and, of course, arrived late, sweaty and a little annoyed. But music is a balm for stress, and I joined the group, which was still practicing.
Como aún no comenzaba el acto de inauguración y ya estaba empezando a llegar gente, aproveché de mirar las postales que estaban expuestas en las paredes y a tomar fotografías a aquellas que más me gustaron.

Luego de que el Director de la coral agradeciera la invitación tambien informo que esta semana se estaba conmemorando El dia del canto coral, decretado en Venezuela, el 15 de julio del año 2023, y que en esta oportunidad tenia como tema Cantemos por la paz
The event began with a presentation by the organizers.
After the choir director expressed his gratitude for the invitation, he also announced that this week was Choral Singing Day, decreed in Venezuela on July 15, 2023, and that this year's theme was "A Song for Peace."
La coral obsequio a los asistentes con siete canciones de nuestro repertorio. Entre estas, canciones venezolanas como Juramento, El Norte es una quimera, El totumo de Guarenas, la Mañana Ajena y la Chaparrita, además de Rumbanban una canción de origen cubano, y Estela e Lua nova, una canción popular de Brasil.
The choir delighted the audience with seven songs from our repertoire. These included Venezuelan songs such as Juramento, El Norte es una quimera, El totumo de Guarenas, La Mañana Ajena, and La Chaparrita, as well as Rumbanban, a song of Cuban origin, and Estela e Lua nova, a popular Brazilian song.
Fue un concierto muy variado. Para mí y creo que para todos los integrantes de la coral fue muy satisfactorio saber que las canciones que hemos practicado con mucha constancia se escucharon muy bien y al público le gustó. Los aplausos y las felicitaciones son muy agradables de sentir. Y pude ver la alegría en sus rostros.
It was a very varied concert. For me, and I think for all the members of the choir, it was very satisfying to know that the songs we had practiced so diligently sounded great and that the audience enjoyed them. The applause and congratulations are very nice to hear. And I can see the joy on their faces.
El trabajo de una coral requiere disciplina y amor y también la compenetración entre todos. Es un trabajo en equipo.
Working in a choir requires discipline and love, as well as rapport between everyone. It is teamwork.
Luego de culminado el acto, nos tomamos las fotografías en grupo y nos invitaron a un refrigerio.
After the ceremony ended, we took group photos and were invited to enjoy refreshments.
Fue una actividad muy linda, donde se combinaron dos actividades artísticas: la pintura y la música. El arte en todas sus manifestaciones es una manera de expresar sentimientos y emociones. Estar compartiendo este momento con amigos y las personas que asistieron fue muy agradable.
It was a very nice activity, combining two artistic activities: painting and music. Art in all its forms is a way of expressing feelings and emotions. Sharing this moment with friends and the people who attended was very enjoyable.
Me vine con mi amiga de regreso a la casa y cuando llegue y revise mi teléfono me acababan de llegar las notas de voz que ella me habia enviado. Supuse que me las envio al salir de su casa en la mañana y ya no tenía saldo en su teléfono. Esa fue la explicación.
I came back home with my friend, and when I arrived and checked my phone, I saw that she had just sent me the voice messages. I assumed she had sent them when she left her house in the morning and no longer had any credit. That was the explanation.
