This Saturday, I was invited to the opening of an exhibition space located in the 23 de Enero parish in Caracas, Venezuela. It's the "Galería Café Subterránea," a cozy space designed for artistic exhibitions and recreation. This project was created by Manuel Maneiro, a professor at UNEARTE, and his wife, Yolimar, who is currently a visual arts student. With great effort, they managed to make this dream, which they had been planning for two years, a reality.
Este sábado me invitaron a la inauguración de un espacio expositivo ubicado en la parroquia del 23 de enero en la ciudad de Caracas, Venezuela; se trata de la "Galería Café Subterránea" un acogedor espacio ideado para la exposición y recreación artística, este proyecto fue creado por Manuel Maneiro profesor de la UNEARTE y su esposa Yolimar que actualmente es estudiante de artes plásticas, ellos con mucho esfuerzo lograron hacer realidad este sueño que llevaban dos años planificando.
Upon arriving at the gallery, I was enchanted by the place. I instantly fell in love with its aesthetic. It has a small bar selling desserts, coffee, and other beverages, to enjoy while spending time appreciating the works of art displayed throughout the space.
Al llegar a la galería quede encantado con el lugar, me enamoro al instante por la estética que maneja, tiene una pequeña barra para vender postres, café y otras bebidas, para disfrutar mientras pasas el rato apreciando las obras de artes que se exhiben por todo el espacio.
For this first opening exhibition, they brought together a wide variety of art pieces, including paintings, ceramics, urban art, goldsmithing, and jewelry, even a small sculptural installation. The space can be adapted for performance and other types of action art.
Para esta primera muestra de inauguración recopilaron una buena cantidad de piezas de artes, muy variadas, pinturas, cerámica, arte urbano, orfebrería y joyería, hasta una pequeña instalación escultórica; el espacio se puede adaptar para hacer performance y otros tipos de arte acción.
Several activities were held to complement the opening, but I arrived a little late and only managed to enjoy a masterful flute recital. However, I know the space is available for artistic workshops and other initiatives that will enhance the space's value, attracting more visitors and making it a popular gallery in the city.
Para complementar la inauguración se realizaron varias actividades, pero yo llegue un poco tarde y solo pude apreciar un magistral recital de flauta; pero sé que el espacio está a disposición para realizar talleres artísticos y propuestas que incrementen el valor del espacio para que vengan más visitantes y se convierta en una galería popular en la ciudad.
We also tasted a homemade blackberry wine called "DEMORAO" made by Professor Manuel. That tasting was really good, and it's ideal for a live art show where participants can taste the wine while painting. It would be really cool.
También degustamos un vino de mora hecho por la casa llamado "DEMORAO" fabricado por el profesor Manuel, de verdad estuvo muy bueno esa degustación y es ideal para proponer una muestra de arte en vivo donde los participantes puedan degustar el vino mientras pintan, sería muy genial.
That day I met many interesting people, including an urban artist who is extremely skilled with spray paint and is from the area. We are organizing a mural project in that area on January 23rd to take advantage of the cultural context of that parish and instill respect for urban art beyond graffiti.
Este día pude conocer muchas personas interesantes, entre ellas pude relacionarme con un artista urbano que tiene muchísima habilidad con la pintura en aerosol y es de la zona, estamos organizándonos para generar un proyecto muralismo por esa zona del 23 de enero para aprovechar el contexto cultural de esa parroquia e inculcar el respeto al arte urbano más allá del grafiti.
I truly fell in love with this gallery. Since I'm good friends with the people in charge, they've made the space available to me to generate ideas that add value. I'm already planning something exciting; I'll soon be sharing the progress with the community. I hope you enjoy this post. Good vibes.
