Greetings, I hope you are having a wonderful Thursday, productive and full of good energies. Today I want to share with you a brief journey that, although it was short in distance, was full of moments that allowed me to appreciate the environment around me. Sometimes you don't need to go far to connect with the everyday and appreciate what surrounds us with curious and grateful eyes.
I love it when the weather is nice, and on this beautiful island that happens frequently. The exception, of course, are the rainy days, but even they have their charm. These last few days the weather has been especially beautiful, with clear skies and radiant sunshine. However, we must admit that the heat has been really suffocating, so much so that you feel your body melting! That's why it's essential to stay well hydrated.
On my way to work I was able to contemplate an urban and natural landscape that blends together in a unique way. Buildings, streets, trees and mountains intertwine, palm trees, in a view that I enjoy every day with genuine admiration. It is one of those small pleasures that accompany me in my routine and remind me that beauty is where we decide to see it.

Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes un breve recorrido que, aunque fue corto en distancia, estuvo lleno de momentos que me permitieron valorar el entorno que me rodea. A veces no se necesita ir muy lejos para conectar con lo cotidiano y apreciar lo que nos rodea con ojos curiosos y agradecidos.
Me encanta cuando el clima acompaña, y en esta hermosa Isla eso ocurre con frecuencia. La excepción, claro, son los días lluviosos, pero incluso ellos tienen su encanto. Estos últimos días el clima ha estado especialmente hermoso, con cielos despejados y un sol radiante. Sin embargo, hay que reconocer que el calor ha sido verdaderamente sofocante, ¡tanto que uno siente que el cuerpo se derrite! Por eso, es fundamental mantenerse bien hidratado.
En mi camino al trabajo pude contemplar un paisaje urbano y natural que se mezcla de forma única. Edificios, calles, árboles y montañas se entrelazan, palmeras, en una vista que disfruto cada día con genuina admiración. Es uno de esos pequeños placeres que me acompañan en la rutina y me recuerdan que la belleza está donde decidimos verla.
When I arrived at the Sunsol Unik hotel, I had the task of measuring the chlorine in the main tank. This week has been busy, as new tourists have arrived and that means that the hotel must guarantee all its services efficiently. To achieve this, they have had to supply themselves with several water trucks, something that requires constant monitoring. So I had to keep a close eye on the levels, making sure that everything stayed within the right range to provide optimum quality. Although it may seem like a technical task, it also has its human side; making sure that visitors have a good experience is fundamental.
Al llegar al hotel Sunsol Unik, tenía la tarea de realizar la medición del cloro en el tanque principal. Esta semana ha sido movida, ya que han llegado nuevos turistas y eso implica que el hotel debe garantizar todos sus servicios con eficiencia. Para lograrlo, han tenido que abastecerse con varias gandolas de agua, algo que requiere monitoreo constante. Así que me tocó estar muy pendiente de los niveles, asegurándose de que todo se mantuviera dentro del rango adecuado para brindar una calidad óptima. Aunque parezca una tarea técnica, también tiene su lado humano; cuidar que los visitantes tengan una buena experiencia es fundamental.
When we finished, my husband was already waiting for me. We had another commitment; to check some water tanks that we will need to install. We went to Aleka, a store specializing in plumbing materials, hoping to get a good deal. To our surprise, the prices there were much more affordable than in other stores. It was a pleasant experience that reminded us of the importance of comparison shopping before making a purchasing decision.
Al terminar, mi esposo ya me esperaba. Teníamos otro compromiso; revisar unos tanques de agua que necesitaremos instalar. Fuimos a Aleka, una tienda especializada en materiales de plomería, con la esperanza de conseguir una buena oferta. Para nuestra sorpresa, los precios allí eran bastante más asequibles que en otros locales. Fue una grata experiencia que nos recordó la importancia de comparar antes de tomar una decisión de compra.
After touring several places in the city, we realized that the heat was too intense. Although we had hydrated, the body was starting to feel heavy, almost flattened. So we decided to look for a cool area, and the closest place was the Aikoz market. We entered almost as if it were an oasis and felt immediate relief. We sat in one of the aisles, enjoying the cool air. Then my husband, who has a special knack for finding nacelles, saw a stall offering two nacelles for only, one fifty dollars. He obviously jumped at the chance and ordered two mixed chocolate and vanilla.
Después de recorrer varios sitios en la ciudad, nos dimos cuenta de que el calor era demasiado intenso. Aunque nos habíamos hidratado, el cuerpo comenzaba a sentirse pesado, casi aplomado. Así que decidimos buscar un área refrigerada, y el lugar más cercano era el mercado Aikoz. Entramos casi como si fuera un oasis y sentimos un alivio inmediato. Nos sentamos en uno de los pasillos, disfrutando del aire fresco. Entonces mi esposo, que tiene una habilidad especial para encontrar barquillas, vio un puesto que ofrecía dos barquillas por solo, uno cincuenta dólares. Obviamente no dejó pasar la oportunidad y pidió dos mixtas de chocolate y vainilla.
The waffles were delicious. In addition to being refreshing, they were creamy and felt like a reward at the end of a hectic day. That moment was excellent for us; it allowed us to recharge our batteries and share a sweet break in the middle of the hustle and bustle.
After that respite, we continued our way back home, enjoying the beautiful landscapes that the island gives us. I sincerely hope you like this little piece of my day.
Las barquillas estaban deliciosas. Además de refrescantes, eran cremosas y se sentían como un premio al final de una jornada agitada. Ese momento fue excelente para nosotros; nos permitió recargar energías y compartir una pausa dulce en medio del ajetreo.
Luego de ese respiro, seguimos nuestro camino de regreso a casa, disfrutando de los hermosos paisajes que la Isla nos regala. Espero de corazón que a ustedes les guste este pedacito de mi día.
