It's already the weekend, and I hope yours is very relaxing. Mine looks like it will be. After a fairly busy and satisfying week at Ecoland, I can say that I am ending this cycle feeling fulfilled and grateful for what I have achieved. This Friday was my last day at work, and as we had already planned, the three of us left home early: my son, my husband, and I. They really enjoy accompanying me when they have free time. We wanted to end the day with a special touch, treating ourselves to a trip together to Juangriego, a destination that always welcomes us with its coastal charm and that familiar atmosphere that we enjoy so much.
We took the Portachuelo highway, which never ceases to amaze us with its urban and natural landscapes. As we drove along, we passed through the picturesque towns of Tacarigua and Santa Ana, whose colorful houses and warm people seemed to greet us as we drove by. Even on that journey, we began to feel that change in energy, our bodies releasing the stress of work and our minds connecting with the simplicity and beauty of the road.
Ya estamos de fin de semana y deseo que el de ustedes sea muy relajado, el mío parece que así será. Después de una semana de trabajo en Ecoland bastante activa y satisfactoria, puedo decir que cierro este ciclo sintiéndome plena y agradecida por lo logrado. Este viernes fue mi último día de labores, y como ya teníamos planificado, salimos temprano de casa los tres, mi hijo, mi esposo y yo, ellos sienten mucho placer acompañarme cuando tienen tiempo libre. Teníamos la intención de cerrar la jornada con un toque especial, regalándonos un paseo juntos a Juangriego, un destino que siempre nos recibe con su encanto costero y ese aire familiar que tanto disfrutamos.
Tomamos la carretera de Portachuelo, que nunca deja de sorprendernos con sus paisajes urbanos y naturales. A medida que avanzábamos, fuimos atravesando las pintorescas localidades de Tacarigua y Santa Ana, que con sus casas coloridas y su gente cálida parecían saludar nuestro paso. Ya desde ese trayecto comenzaba a sentirse ese cambio de energía, el cuerpo aflojando el estrés laboral y la mente conectándose con lo sencillo y lo bello del camino.
We arrived at the hotel without any problems, and everything went smoothly. Thanks to that, the work was completed efficiently, even before the scheduled lunch break. That little miracle of time allowed us to travel calmly to the city of Juangriego, just in time for lunch. The heat was intense, suffocating I would say, but fortunately I was wearing a T-shirt that allowed me to lighten my outfit and feel cooler and more comfortable. We decided to find a place to sit near the sea, because if there's one thing Juangriego has, it's that magic of being able to eat while feeling the sea breeze and listening to the waves.
Llegamos al hotel sin contratiempos, y todo fluyó de forma natural. Gracias a eso, el trabajo culminó de manera efectiva, incluso antes del horario previsto para el almuerzo. Ese pequeño milagro de tiempo nos permitió desplazarnos con calma hasta la ciudad de Juangriego, justo a tiempo para almorzar. El calor era intenso, sofocante diría yo, pero por fortuna traía puesta una camiseta que me permitió aligerar mi atuendo y sentirme más fresca y cómoda. Decidimos buscar un lugar para sentarnos que estuviera cerca del mar, porque si algo tiene Juangriego es esa magia de poder comer sintiendo la brisa marina y escuchando el vaivén de las olas.
We went to the restaurant “Frente al mar” (Facing the Sea), a place we always go to when we visit, not only because of its good food, but also because of the natural spectacle it offers and the friendly service.

My family loves this place, and it's no wonder: you can watch pelicans fly and dive for fish, see the waves lapping at the shore, and watch the fishermen arrive in their boats. It's a comfortable, unpretentious spot.
We were treated with a warmth and simplicity that seems to be inherited from the landscape. Everyone ordered their favorite dish. For starters, we couldn't miss out on the traditional tostones they prepare there, crispy and tasty, always irresistible.
I ordered deliciously perfect breaded fish fillets, while my son and husband enjoyed a juicy steak with side dishes..
A mi familia le fascina este lugar, y no es para menos, se puede ver a los pelícanos volar y sumergirse en busca de peces, contemplar cómo las olas acarician la orilla y observar a los pescadores llegar con sus lanchas. Es un rincón cómodo y sencillo.
Nos atendieron con esa amabilidad que parece heredada del paisaje, cálida y sencilla. Cada uno pidió su plato favorito. Como entrada, no podían faltar los tradicionales tostones que preparan ahí, crujientes y sabrosos, siempre irresistibles.
Pedí masas de pescado empanizadas deliciosamente perfectas, mientras que mi hijo y esposo disfrutaron de un jugoso filete con acompañantes.
While we ate lunch, we enjoyed a natural spectacle that seemed choreographed just for us. Several pelicans prowled the beach, also looking for their lunch, while a fisherman maneuvered his boat to shelter it after his work.
Mientras almorzábamos, nos deleitamos con un espectáculo natural que parecía coreografiado para nosotros. Varios pelícanos merodeaban la playa, buscando también su almuerzo del día, mientras un pescador maniobraba su lancha para resguardarla tras su faena.
Despite the heat, the weather was ideal for photography. Every image I captured with my lens seemed to take on a life of its own, with intense colors. After finishing our meal, we stayed for a while, sharing conversation and contemplating the landscapes that embraced the sea.
El clima, a pesar del calor, era ideal para la fotografía. Cada imagen que capturaba con mi lente parecía adquirir vida propia, con colores intensos. Tras terminar nuestra comida, nos quedamos un buen rato compartiendo la sobremesa, contemplando los paisajes que abrazaban el mar.
Our Friday was productive but also beautiful, because when we manage to share like this, without rushing, it becomes a wonderful moment. Nothing compares to those moments with family, where every word, every laugh, and every silence feels like home.
