It's been a while since I gave the due kudos to the management of this community for the tireless efforts in bringing up interesting topics every week to write on. You're due for this portion of the appraisal. Much more for a topic as this week's. I must say it got me caught up in some thoughts on the two options; back to age six with all my current knowledge or some cool dollars counting twenty million in hand?
Huh, must say it got me thinking. There are those moments in life when you're faced with a dilemma, of choosing between one good thing and another, one appealing thing over the other. It would be a lot easier if this were some choice between good and bad, but no, and it seems to make it difficult. This was about making the choice of a possibly better option among two good ones.
There were moments in life when I had to relive my younger life. One thing that seemed to be the intrigue is the thought of how some things would have been better or done better if there was better knowledge. Now, that's something worth travelling back in time to and addressing, right? I guess ‘The Flash’ would have had nothing on me.
There are things to relish about being a six-year-old. Like having this seemingly ease with and about life, less trouble, freedom of being a child and being accepted for it, and others that one could find. But then, having all this present knowledge as a child, I don't know how that works or could work, I've not done it before. I feel, however, that it could be a different experience.
Considering how dependent, constrained and limited a child could be, the thought became deeper and more intriguing. Something that makes childhood interesting is the ability to have this naive yet totally optimistic view of tomorrow, which having this current knowledge could kind of cancel all of that out.
Even as a six-year-old, one desire was for a good life, and I doubt if that has changed today. If that's still on the table, why not proceed with the desire of achieving that now, rather than go back in time all over again? Don't get me wrong, I said part of the desire, not the ultimate desire. Nevertheless, I find that having money, enough money, could facilitate the achievement of the many desires on ground.
Now, I would love to travel back in time and right some wrongs, fix some things, attend to some things unattended. It would be nice to do all that and more. Given some thought to it, maybe that wouldn't be just the right move to make. I mean, being way grown and attained some little heights in life, with prospects and expectations for the near and far future, maybe it would be nice to just push ahead, huh? The lessons learnt from life should be useful, because so long as there's life, there's hope for a better tomorrow.
So then, would the money be taken? Yes. Why or for what? Here then comes the discussion. There's a lot that money could do. The list is long, but to name a few, such an amount of money could be useful in reaching out and helping others, something six-year-old me would be happy about. How about giving myself, my family and friends a better life? Also, empowering young minds through useful and necessary skills that the world requires today. I count all these and more as one of the best uses of money.
Did I mention that we're talking about dollars even, and twenty million? Now, that's a whole lot of money in my native currency. We're talking billions here. Well, except there are priceless issues that my six-year-old self would be calling back to－which I would love to dialogue and come to an understanding, haha－I guess he'll be glad I took the money to make him a fulfilling future, serving humanity.
