Hello Hive family,
Today, I want to share how my journey was so far so good. Life has not been all smooth, but I have been thankful for where I am and the person I’m becoming.
My name is David. I was born in January 1994, and I’m the first child in a family of seven. Being the first born comes with its own pressure and responsibilities. Right from a young age, I knew I had to act right all the time because others were watching me. I didn’t always get it right, but I tried my best.
Growing up wasn't that easy for me. We were neither rich, nor poor either. My parents made sure we had food to eat, clothes to wear, and a roof over our heads. I saw how they struggled to makes ends meet especially my mum. She worked so hard and still managed to be there for us. That taught me the value of sacrifice.
As a child, I used to dream big. I wanted to be so many things an astronaut, a doctor, even a footballer. But life has a way of showing us a different path neglecting our dream or something not related to our goals. I went through nursery, primary, and secondary school just like every other child, facing challenges, enjoying little victories, and learning lessons along the way.
I got admitted into Obafemi Awolowo University (O.A.U) to study Microbiology. Being in that school was an eye-opener a sociopath. I met people from all over the country. I had to learn how to relate with different people characters and behavior, face academic stress, and also find time to enjoy the little moments. It was in university that I really fell in love with sports. I played both football and basketball for the school team It helped me stay strong, focused, and gave me joy even when things got out of control.
After school, I went for NYSC and was posted to Delta State. That was another phase of life entirely A new place, new people, new culture, foodsand a lot of adjustments. There were both good and bad experiences. I faced reality. Life outside school is hard. But I thank God I survived, and I grew stronger.
Looking back, I’ve come a long way. I’m still learning, still growing. That’s why I’m here on Hive to improve my writing, connect with people, learn from people and share my journey. Everyone has a story. This is mine, and I’m ready to keep telling it, one day at a time. We keep learning everyday.
