Meet Jhay
Life is a journey that encompasses growth, development, experience, the discovery of purpose and fulfilment of destiny and for every living being on earth, there's is always a reason for existence.
Hello!!! My name is Joash Elah but my friends call me Jhay and I’m very delighted to have you here on my blog.
I was introduced to Hive by a friend who was having a conversation about it with some friends. He subsequently connected me with @Ovey10, who has been tutoring me.
Growing up, I came to understand that that life does not always give you what you want, sometimes you will have to work your way out to get what you want. Why did I say so?
I’m from Cross River state, Nigeria, born into a middle-class family of three children all male and I'm the first child of the family.
(Immediate Younger Brother)
(Last-Born)
My dad got married while He was half way already in his service as a civil servant in the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) and according to constitution, once you are 35 years in service, you are due for retirement.
(My Dad)
I got admission into one of the prestigious university in Nigerian few months after Dad retired from service. You could imagine getting admission into higher institution without any income coming into the family. There I understood that a huge task and responsibilities await me. I encounter unpleasant situations especially when trying to settle my tuition fee and registration, lucky enough I scaled through my first year.
One thing I did when I rounded up my high school education was to enrol in a skill acquisition training program precisely in Basic computer operation. On a faithful day during my first year examination, I was meditating on how my second year will be and the difficulties I may face if I don’t do something. I then decided to rent a laptop from a friend and seek for a space at the school ICT café where I can start working to support myself through school.
(My Rented Laptop now mine)
Combining working and studying at the same time was not easy at all but I had to do it. There are times I skipped lectures just to work so as to be able to support myself and family. This became a worry to me at some point because I was giving much time to work and less time to my studies so I needed to balance both which I succeeded doing. This continued until I rounded up my higher institution.
I’ve had several experiences during my years in school aside the financial crisis I was facing. One of which was getting into relationship that almost affected my life badly. I was this serious type of person that focus only on studies, work and church. I barely had time for friends or social activities in school. I was one among the best students who top the department in academics maintaining my grade on a first class upper division till my 3rd years in school but it changed when I got mixed in a relationship at my first semester 4th year. I wound have love to tell you how it started but that should be a story for another time. The ending was a bitter experience that affected me mentally, emotionally and psychologically. On two different occasion I was rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment of low and high blood pressure. Funny right😂😂!!! At my age then 24 years. Well! this bright student almost didn’t graduate from higher institution if not for the mercies of God. I barely study or work because I was so distracted. My grade dropped down from first class division to second class. I suffer from this emotional trauma for over a year. Yes!!. I promise myself not to get into any relationship for now. One thing I learned from that experience is never you force or beg someone to love you, know your worth and value, learn to work away when respect is no longer there, never you love someone out of pity and if it is not meant to be live it and walk away.
The joy of everything is that I graduated successfully without issue in school and I have successfully rounded up my one-year National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) on 23rd of January 2025.
I always had the big dream of becoming a successful medical doctor in the future when I was little, but that was not what I end up studying. The school change my course to Bachelor of Science and Education Integrated Science (B Sc.(Ed) Integrated Science). I do not regret why destiny chose to make me embark the line of teaching but it was worth it. When I rounded up my finals exams, a school gave me a contract to teach their students three times in a week with a duration of two to three hours only. I combined teaching and working at the ICT cafe at the same time and that generated extra income to me. It continued until my result came out and I went for my one-year program.
Along the line though, I tend to develop passion for Computer Operation. I could spend the whole day sitting on my laptop without stress even if I don’t have any task to perform. I’ve taught my colleagues in school using computer, I’ve delivered lectures and presentation using system.
I remember working on four systems one day at the same time typing and installing applications and my roommate took a picture of me.
I’m currently planning to further my career in data science and data analysis. I’ve enrolled for online classes. What I want is to accomplish is to acquire the skill, applied it in real life and connect with people.
I’m delighted to use this platform to discuss things that are relevant to me and what will my future blog be all about.
Music: Music has been a great source of inspiration to me. It always has a way of energising my spirit and uplifting my mood whenever I’m down, stressed, anxious. I love listening to calm music and instruments. Just play me good music. I’m okay!!
Adventure. Going out on adventures has create memorable experience. Even though I’m not financial stable, I still try once a while to travel to new places. I’ve been to over seven states within the country and different games reserved, wildlife park, zoo and even go for hiking. I love adventures.
