Hello guys, welcome to my blog once again, it's been awhile since I wrote any piece due to my busy schedules which is so demanding and frustrating. After 5 days of nonstop work where I always wake up early in the morning and go to work around 7 and then retire for the night around 9-10pm everyday, I finally got some breathing space today to come home before 7pm but it was not on a good note.
Even though I got some time off early today which compelled me to write this piece to express myself about how I really feel about the day and how the week has been for me, it was also one of the saddest day that am sure I will always remember because today I lost a colleague of mine whom was a contract worker under the same company I work for, which ended up making the whole day moody and uncomfortable.
I was shocked deep within me because this was the first time a life slowly left a person while I watched, unable to do anything. This colleague of mine went on an assignment assigned by the company together with his fellow contract workers and the company's driver to Ekiti (a state in Nigeria) for almost a month and when they had completed the task, they decided to come back home but unfortunately encountered an accident along kogi road (another state in Nigeria) and was critically injured that he lost his consciousness along with one other guy while the rest sustained a visible injuries that were not too severe.
After spending some days at the hospital there, they were referred to different hospitals that was more closer to their hometowns for further medical treatment and this guy was referred back to where we are working. We received him on arrival on Tuesday from the park and took him to a specialist hospital but unfortunately the nurses and doctors were on strike and some emergency patients that we met there were also being vacated which lead us to sort for a private hospital and he was admitted late that night for further treatment.
We checked on him the next day to know how he was doing before heading to work and did the same after returning from work and then yesterday we were asked to take him for x-ray but it wasn't possible because of heavy rainfall that fell and we decided to take him for the x-ray today. Arriving at the x-ray center, we completed the necessary requirements and procedures and when our turn came to go in, we did. The doctor requested an x-ray of the skull, chest and pelvic to be carried out.
The x-ray commence but with a little problem which was the inability of the guy to move this body by himself (especially his hands and legs) which was done by us and during the chest x-ray I watched as the guy was slipping slowly away but before the x-ray specialist do anything else he gave up but I chose not to believe and requested for a doctor to be brought even though we weren't in the hospital, a doctor was brought in which he latter concluded on the same outcome "he's gone" that was the sentence he made and that was the last thing I was hoping to hear.
I remained in that room just staring at this guy for 30 minutes without going or doing anything while the person we came with couldn't take it and then went outside, alot of questions were rushing into my head
