Hello architecture lovers, especially A+D members! It's been almost three months since my last post on A+D. I'd love to share more posts in this community, but I'm confused because I rarely go to buildings with good architecture. Earlier, while browsing through my gallery photos, I came across photos from the hotel I stayed at for a company event. After thinking about it, I found the place interesting enough to discuss here. Located in Sleman Regency, northern Yogyakarta... the Grand Diamond Hotel is one of Yogyakarta's most renowned four-star hotels. However, as a Yogyakarta native... I only recently learned about it because I live in Jakarta.
Grand Diamond Hotel, Yogyakarta
Exterior of the building
Seen from a distance... the Grand Diamond Hotel building looks very majestic. But when you get closer, the building's shape is unique. I'm at a loss to explain it in words, but the shape of the building and its ornaments are very unique in my opinion. The design of the building is like a blend of typical Yogyakarta styles, namely joglo houses, with western styles... The exterior is dominated by white and dark brown, it adding to the grandeur of the building, and the floor on the stairs leading to the lobby also looks unique and vintage... The ceiling of the outer lobby is also dominated by wood, I think it similar to the building in a joglo house.
Lobby Area
The luxurious feel begins to be felt upon entering the inner lobby... Luxurious sofas are placed in the center near the elevator. By the way... this hotel is said to be the first in Yogyakarta with a capsule elevator. What caught my attention the most were the ornaments above, which added a luxurious feel to the hotel lobby. Every corner of the hotel lobby is very well designed. They also placed several statues that add elegance to this place. The lobby area looks very charming when seen from the upper floor.
D'Lounge and Hall Area
D'Lounge of grand diamond hotel is located on the ground floor, right next to the lobby. This D'lounge area is also luxuriously designed and again dominated by white and brown... giving it a somewhat dark feel but still maintaining its luxurious feel. The Hall is located directly below the D'Lounge. To get there, you can take an aesthetic staircase with a beautiful crystal chandelier. The Hall area is very simple yet spacious...
Room Area and the Hallway
Before I talk about the hotel rooms... I want to briefly discuss the hallway. The entire hallway floor is covered with thick, soft carpet in red and yellow. Several wooden ornaments adorn the walls.
We moved to the hotel room... When I opened the door I was amazed by the large, aesthetic room. All the items in the room were white and brown. This color combination makes this hotel room look aesthetic. Even the bedside lamp was matched with the same color. For furniture... there was a set of table and chairs and a mirror in front of it. Then there was a sofa near the window. For items, more or less the same as in other hotels... such as a wardrobe, table, chairs and mirror. The bed was king-sized with the hotel's signature white sheets. The floor was also covered with a brown carpet.
The restroom area is quite spacious, but elongated. Upon opening the door, you're immediately confronted by a mirrored sink, followed by a toilet to the left, and a bathtub to the right.
Do you like the architecture and design? I personally really liked it and would love to stay there again someday... Thanks for reading my blog and see you!
