Greetings my dear friends and architecture lovers! Today I am going to share with you about a different but historical place, you already know that I am excited about the old, or classic type of architecture, so I always focus on this as it captures my attention more at sight!
I want to show you the Hotel Chile! Structure that is more than 100 years old and was one of the most striking and important buildings when Avenida de Mayo was just born, location where it is located and inaugurated in 1906, with more than 50 rooms and 6 floors is one of the most distinguished buildings in the area.
Saludos mis queridos amigos y amantes de la arquitectura! Hoy voy a compartir con ustedes sobre un lugar diferente pero histórico, ya saben que me emociona el tipo de arquitectura antigua, o clásica, así que siempre me enfoco en esto ya que capta más mi atención a la vista!
Quiero mostrarles el Hotel Chile! Estructura que posee más de 100 años y fue uno de los edificios más llamativos e importantes cuando apenas nació la avenida de mayo, ubicación donde se encuentra e inaugurado en el año 1906, con más de 50 habitaciones y 6 pisos es uno de los edificios más distinguidos de la zona.
This work was in charge of the architect Louis Dubois, a Frenchman who arrived in Argentina and is known as one of the greatest representatives of this style in the country. The building located in the neighborhood of Monserrat was built as a result of enabling the construction of homes or apartments for rent because in the beginning it was only an area of luxurious state buildings or palaces of bourgeois families.
It was inaugurated under the name of Hotel Lutecia, with the passing of the years it would change owners and in turn change its name, as Hotel Nacional and Chile Hotel Romanelli, becoming known at the end as Hotel Chile that connects with the Plaza de Mayo and in turn with the Congress of the Nation, both located in the same Rivadavia Avenue.
Ésta obra estuvo a cargo del arquitecto Louis Dubois, un francés llegado a Argentina conocido como uno de los mayores representantes de este estilo en el país. El edificio ubicado en el barrio de Monserrat fué construido a raíz de que se habilitara la construcción de viviendas o departamentos en renta ya que en sus principios solo era zona de edificios lujosos del estado o palacios de familias burguesas.
Se inauguró bajo el nombre de Hotel Lutecia, con el pasar de los años pasaría de dueños y a su vez cambiaría su nombre, como Hotel Nacional y Chile Hotel Romanelli, conociéndose al final como el Hotel Chile que conecta con la plaza de mayo y a su vez con el congreso de la nación, ambos ubicados en la misma avenida Rivadavia.
The building has characteristic features of oriental architecture, if you can observe the dome is one of them, in turn the way the rooms are built with arched signatures seems to me that confirms it. You can also notice how from the second floor the balconies take another aspect and stand out among the first ones below.
However the building went through a terrifying moment in which the fourth floor caught fire and the fire reached what is the mansard that goes from the fifth floor and the dome, causing it to deteriorate to such an extent that pieces fell to the ground, all this happened in 1988 and the complete damage was carried out in a maximum of two hours.
El edificio tiene rasgos característicos de la arquitectura oriental, si pueden observar la cúpula es uno de ellos, a su vez la forma en como está construida las habitaciones con firmas de arcos me parece que lo confirma. También pueden notar como a partir del segundo piso los balcones toman otro aspecto y sobresalen entre los primeros de abajo.
Sin embargo el edificio pasó por un terrorífico momento en el cual se incendió el cuarto piso y el fuego llegó a lo que es la mansarda que va desde el quinto piso y la cúpula, haciendo que se deteriore a tal punto de que cayeran pedazos al suelo, todo esto ocurrió en el año 1988 y los completos daños se llevaron a cabo en un máximo de dos horas.
The building lost its dome and was under an incomplete appearance for many years, for the year 2018 began the restructuring of the dome by changing the original materials for others brought from outside and doing everything possible to keep the building as original as possible, however the interior of the building does not have the same luck.
Over the years and with the passing of the owners, the interior was remodeled to the point that almost nothing remains of the original Hotel Chile. I could not access the place, which I would have loved to do, so I portray it from my view of its exterior and information about its interior.
Personally I consider that these important and also historical works should maintain their original architecture and aesthetics as they are part of history, demolish or restructure them changing the appearance with great notoriety implies in a way (for me) to erase part of the history and what was lived in the past in these places.
El edificio perdió su cúpula y estuvo bajo una apariencia incompleta por muchos años, para el año 2018 se empezó la reestructuración de la cúpula cambiando los materiales originales por otros traídos del exterior y haciendo lo posible para que el edificio mantenga la apariencia más original posible, sin embargo el interior de edificio no cuenta con la misma suerte.
A través de los años y con el paso de los dueños se fue remodelando el interior al punto de no quedar casi nada de lo que es el Hotel Chile original. No pude acceder al lugar, cosa que me hubiera encantado así que lo retrato desde mi vista en su exterior e información sobre su interior.
Personalmente considero que éstas importantes obras y además históricas deben mantener su arquitectura y estética original ya que firma parte de la historia, demolerlos o reestructurarlos cambiando el aspecto con gran notoriedad implica de cierta forma (para mí) borrar parte de la historia y lo que se vivió en el pasado en estos lugares.
