Hello, dear architecture and design lovers, happy start of the week, I hope you are feeling wonderful surrounded by the blessings of life. Today I want to show you some pictures of my most recent architectural experience.
For those of us who like the world of civil works, it is easy to appreciate the beauty in simple and small places like the one I am going to show you today. This is the scala Shopping Center, located a few meters from the square Bolivar in the city of Merida, Venezuela.
I was looking for a place to eat with my son, when I remembered a restobar that I visited a lot in my student days, this restaurant is one of the main attractions of this mall, as it is very visited by university students, thanks to its excellent promotions.
Honestly, my mind had completely blocked this place, until I saw the intense yellow of its facade, which immediately invited me to visit it. As you can see, it is a two-story shopping mall that combines simple and traditional elements to make its façade look colorful. Decorative columns with linear reliefs and simple capitals, circular windows and arched frames look interesting.
Hola, queridos amantes de la arquitectura y el diseño, feliz inicio de semana, espero que se encuentren de maravilla rodeados de las bendiciones de la vida. Hoy quiero mostrarles algunas fotografías de mi más reciente experiencia arquitectónica.
Para quienes nos gusta el mundo de las obras civiles, es fácil apreciar la belleza en lugares sencillos y pequeños como el que hoy les vengo a mostrar. Se trata del Centro Comercial La Escala, ubicado a escasos metros de la Plaza Bolívar de la Ciudad de Mérida, Venezuela.
Estaba en busca de un lugar para comer junto a mi hijo, cuando recordé un restobar que visitaba mucho en mi época estudiantil, este restaurante es uno de los principales atractivos de este centro comercial, ya que es muy visitado por los estudiantes universitarios, gracias a sus excelentes promociones.
Sinceramente, mi mente, había bloqueado por completo este lugar, hasta que vi el intenso amarillo de su fachada, que me invitó de inmediato a visitarlo. Como observan, se trata de un centro comercial de dos plantas que combina elementos sencillos y tradicionales, para darle vistosidad a su fachada. Columnas decorativas con relieves lineales y capiteles simples, ventanas circulares y marcos en arcos que combinados se ven interesantes.
When you enter, you feel a different perception, you immediately move away from the hustle and bustle of the commercial hustle outside and you feel calm. The color palette helps a lot, the pastel colors have the power to give serenity and visual harmony.
Before heading to lunch, we took a tour and I was very pleased to see that it is well kept. The interior is spacious, comfortable, quiet and the combination of different materials makes it beautiful and elegant.
This type of columns enhances the design, plus it looks great next to the tongue and groove wood on the ceiling. One of the things I really like about this mall is that it has well-lit areas thanks to the central skylight. Although some aisles are a little darker.
Al entrar, sientes una percepción diferente, de inmediato alejas el bullicio del ajetreo comercial del exterior y sientes calma. La paleta de colores ayuda mucho, los colores pasteles tienen ese poder de dar serenidad y armonía visual.
Antes de dirigirnos a comer, dimos un recorrido y me agrado mucho darme cuenta de que está bien cuidado. El interior es amplio, cómodo, tranquilo y la combinación de distintos materiales hace que sea hermoso y elegante.
Este tipo de columnas realza el diseño, además se ve muy bien junto a la madera machihembrada del techo. Una de las cosas que me gusta mucho de este centro comercial es que tiene áreas bien iluminadas gracias al tragaluz central. Aunque algunos pasillos están un poco más oscuros.
I loved the circular windows, these are framed in wood, with a wrought iron protection with nice details. Best of all, you can have a beautiful view of the dome of the cathedral and its surroundings.
Me encantaron las ventanas circulares, estas están enmarcadas en madera, con una protección en hierro forjado con lindos detalles. Lo mejor de todo es que puedes tener una hermosa vista a la cúpula de la catedral y sus alrededores.
I really like your stairs, that combination of wood with wrought iron railings seems to me to work very well, plus the ceramic design gives harmony.
Me gustan mucho sus escaleras, esa combinación de la madera con el hierro forjado de sus barandas me parece que funciona muy bien, además el diseño de la cerámica le da armonía.
The doors, of two wood and glass leaves, maintain that colonial style and at the same time modern, thanks to the type of material used, and the lamps are undoubtedly the icing on the cake.
Around the walls, we find lamps that give elegance, they look like antique lamps, fixed on an iron base. They are very nice and different.
In the hallway, we find the same style of lamps, but these hang from the ceiling and are larger. You know, I always pay attention to the lighting fixtures because I consider them an important element in the decoration.
Las puertas, de dos hojas de madera y vidrio, mantienen ese estilo colonial y a la vez moder no, gracias al tipo de material usado y las lámparas son sin duda la cereza del pastel.
Alrededor de las paredes, encontramos lámparas que otorgan elegancia, parecen unas lámparas antiguas, fijadas sobre una base de hierro. Son muy bonitas y diferentes.
En el pasillo, encontramos el mismo estilo de lámparas, pero estas cuelgan del techo y son más grandes. Ya saben, siempre me fijo en la luminaria porque considero que son un elemento importante en la decoración.
In this mall, you can have a nice time in the restaurant, go online and surf the web in their cyber cafe, go to the hairdresser or shopping in their phone stores.
I think its design is functional, aesthetic, a bit minimalist but elegant at the same time. Besides, it is one of the oldest shopping malls in the city.

En este centro comercial, puedes pasar un rato agradable en el restaurante, conectarte y navegar por Internet en su cibercafé, ir a la peluquería o de compras en sus tiendas de telefonía.
Creo que su diseño es funcional, estético, un poco minimalista pero elegante al mismo tiempo. Además es uno de los centros comerciales más antiguos de la ciudad.
