Hello everyone,
How are you today ? are you all okay? As you know, the challenges and problems that occur in real life make us often unable to think clearly and become unhappy. Therefore, I always pray and hope for everyone, especially all members of the Architecture+Design Community to always be given health, happiness and also ease in this life.
This time, I want to re-participate in this community. I want to share my story, experience and impression when I visited a café in my city. The visit was very memorable for me, because it became one of the cafes that had a very cool and beautiful design and architecture. In addition, the place is in a small street and a little hidden makes us like looking for treasure.
Hidden Place
A few days ago, I visited Hidden Place Café, one of the cafes that is being talked about by many people in my city. I was curious, because of the photos and many of my friends who came and took pictures at this café. Hidden Place is located at Sei Bengawan Street no. 74 Medan Sunggal Regency, Medan City. Actually, this cafe is in a non-strategic location, Sei Bengawan Street is a small street and can only be passed by two cars and also not close to strategic objects. So, what does idcafé offer? stay tuned.
I came to Hidden Place Cafe in the afternoon, around 4 pm. Visitors were quite busy at that time, I parked my car in the car park. The car park is only enough to accommodate about 8 cars, and most of the end cars are parked on this side of the road. On the front, we see a fence with a classic brick design, like the designs of buildings in Bali. This fence is very distinctive like the fence model for Bali Vibes hotels, I had time to think if I entered the wrong gate.
Entering the gate, we will see the front or terrace of this building. We will see some small buildings, such as joglo (typical small buildings, houses of Indonesian rich people in ancient times). The front is decorated with several ornaments such as large jars and dozens of very beautiful pots of green plants and bonsai, the impression of a café with an outdoor garden can be seen. When I saw the structure of the gate fence and the front of this café, I felt like I was in the front of a tropical hotel with a culture concept.
Hidden Place or Hidden Gem ?
Next, we will go into the interior of the Hidden Place. I was very surprised when I entered this part of the room, Hidden Place has a large building area and space. Not only spacious, each room is also neatly and well-conceived. Hidden Place divides the cafe area into several rooms that have unique and different concepts. Each room of Hidden Place also has a different design and architecture, according to the target market that this café wants. Hidden Place invites us to explore all corners of this café, like we are looking for treasure.
We enter the room at the very front or right after the entrance of this café. Hidden Place chose a dark theme for the interior design of this café room. This dark color selection is quite unique, because not many cafes or buildings use this color for color selection. That's because dark colors are too monotonous and seem intimidating. However, Hidden Place is able to make it better and look stylish, especially with the choice of furniture used such as sofas and tables that make this room look more luxurious and elegant. I am also very impressed with the wood vinyl flooring which adds elegance to this café space. This room is very suitable for visitors who want to talk with friends or business colleagues, besides this room is not allowed to smoke so it is very comfortable for people who are intolerant of cigarette smoke.
Outdoor Space with Garden Concept, Again ?
After that, we go into another room of this coffee shop. One of the favorite spots for men and smokers at this Café, this is an outdoor section with a garden concept. Hidden Place creates an open space in the middle of the core building of this cafe, this outdoor space is more attractive with a variety of green plants and very beautiful flowers. We don't need to be afraid of the heat here, in addition to the incoming breeze, this outdoor room also has a fan to help air circulation. For this room, Hidden Place chose minimalist furniture made of iron and wood, furniture like this is quite popular today and you may often find at IKEA or similar stores.
To prevent sunburn, Hidden Place made a high canopy roof. The part I like most about this place, is the knitted flax leaves (the material for making traditional Indonesian mats) used to cover the zinc. Leaf knitting, like this mat has two functions, firstly as a heat sink and secondly, it beautifies this room and gives a very strong traditional impression. In addition, the chandelier is also enhanced with decorations and ornaments shaped like a bird cage. That seems so cool.
Tropical Vibes – Selfie Spot
Next, I invite you to go to the women's favorite space at Hidden Place. This room is decorated in bright and cheerful colors. The choice of colors is very pleasing to the eyes of those who see it. The walls of this room use terracotta paint color combined with white wall wallpaper which is very in harmony with the tropical cafe concept. The tropical impression is getting stronger from the choice of furniture used, Hidden Place chooses tables and chairs made of rattan and various ornamental plants such as palm, Balinese pandanus hanging on the wall to make this café room even more beautiful.
This room is in the corner of the building but, the lighting conditions during the day are very bright. That's because, in this room, Hidden Place uses a transparent roof so that sunlight enters and brightens this room. Sunlight also beautifies all the tropical designs and ornaments of this place. In addition, in order not to be too monotonous, the roof of this room is decorated with wood that crosses and creates a shadow gradation effect.
My Favorite Space in Hidden Place
We have already discussed 3 spots of this café, two spaces with a garden concept and one indoor room. Next, we will discuss one of my favorite spots or spaces in Hidden Place. This cafe makes an indoor room with air conditioning, the room is not too wide but and is at the very end of this cafe.
In contrast to the indoor room on the dark front. This indoor room has a design and architecture that makes it brighter, that's because this space uses thick glass walls and allows sunlight to enter this room. Hidden Place makes this room very comfortable for creative workers or writers. This room functions as a quiet place, Hidden Place makes rules not to make noise or talk too loudly so that visitors are comfortable and can work or study with good concentration. In addition, the furniture used is minimalist in style, and really supports the comfort of the visitors who come and sit here.
It seems, my story and impressions about this Hidden Place Cafe have become too long for me to write. In addition to the spot and the room, there are two other rooms that can be described, namely a meeting room and an indoor room for smokers and live music performances. The concept and design of Hidden Place, just as the name suggests, we seem to come to a place that we think is not too wide, but there are many hidden and secret rooms in it. Like humans, I believe that everyone has a part that he or she hides from others and it would be very surprising for others to know about it. See you next time.
