One of the characteristics that distinguish us from other animals is our ability to feel pleasure. One of those pleasures that we have elevated to an art form is eating. Although feeding ourselves is essential for life, we humans perceive food as something that goes beyond the simple need to satisfy our hunger; for us, eating has also become a form of sensory and emotional enjoyment.
Precisely because the pleasure of eating has evolved, over time specialised spaces such as restaurants have emerged, designed to transform the mere act of eating into a pleasurable experience, where several senses come together.
So my publication links design and decoration with the joy of eating. This is a visit to a small restaurant that I recently visited, and where I felt very much at home, not only for its delicious menu, but also for its warm and cosy atmosphere where the decoration combines art and painting.
Upon entering I felt a familiar sense of intimacy, and inside the restaurant there are many wooden elements that convey that feeling, tables, chairs, sideboards, decorations and even the large windows. Wood always gives me a sense of comfort and a feeling of being at home.
A charming detail are the decorative wooden partitions in different corners, where in the centre of each one there is a stained glass window with floral designs that add elegance and a colourful and beautiful touch.
But in addition to these stained glass windows, I was impressed by others outside the restaurant, which are part of the same complex. All of them are inspired by maritime themes, and the fact is that this place is located in a coastal area and in former times it was a recreational place for the Cuban bourgeoisie, and a place where some sports such as golf were practised.
The floor of the facility and the restaurant also deserve a mention, with wide corridors in marble that harmonise with the classic and elegant ambience of the place, and a tone that perfectly complements the surroundings.
However, what I most enjoyed inside the restaurant was the delicacy with which they chose the works of art to decorate the walls. It is very pleasant to create an atmosphere around such a refined décor. The interior of this place is not only designed to enjoy a delicious meal but also to delight our eyes with the beauty of a carefully placed painting.
The themes of the works are connected to the surrounding maritime environment and gastronomy and each one is positioned so that from any table you can appreciate its details. I couldn't help getting up and photographing the ones I liked best, and although they are all reproductions they are very well done and the frames surrounding them are particularly elaborate and elegant.
In addition to the good company and the attentive service, I was very pleased to get to know this restaurant. It made me feel that indeed life's moments are enjoyed to the fullest when all our senses are in harmony. It was a special day in a space created with taste and sensitivity.

Una de las características que nos distinguen del resto de los animales es nuestra capacidad para sentir placer. Uno de esos placeres que hemos elevado al rango de arte es el de comer. Aunque alimentarnos es imprescindible para la vida, los seres humanos percibimos la comida como algo que va más allá de la simple necesidad de saciar el hambre, para nosotros comer se ha convertido además en una forma de disfrutar sensorial y emocionalmente.
Precisamente porque el placer de comer ha evolucionado, con el tiempo han surgido espacios especializados como los restaurantes, concebidos para transformar el mero hecho de alimentarse en una experiencia placentera, donde se juntan varios sentidos.
Por lo que mi publicación vincula el diseño y la decoración con el goce de comer. Esta es una visita a un pequeño restaurante que conocí recientemente, y donde me sentí muy a gusto no solo por su delicioso menú, sino por su ambiente cálido y acogedor donde la decoración combina el arte y la pintura.
Al entrar sentí una sensación familiar de intimidad, y es que dentro del local hay muchos elementos de madera que transmiten esa impresión, mesas, sillas, aparadores, decoraciones e incluso los amplios ventanales. La madera siempre me transmite confort y una sensación de estar en casa.
Un detalle encantador son las mamparas de madera a modo de decoración que se encuentran en distintos rincones, donde en el centro de cada una destaca un vitral con dibujos florales que aportan elegancia y un toque colorido y hermoso.
Pero además de estos vitrales me impresionaron otros que se hallan en el exterior del restaurante, y que forman parte del mismo complejo. Todos están inspirados en temas marítimos, y es que este lugar se encuentra ubicado en una zona costera y en otros tiempos fue un sitio de recreación para la burguesía cubana, y un espacio donde se practicaban algunos deportes como el golf.
El piso de la instalación y del restaurante también merecen mención, con amplios pasillos enlozados en mármol que armonizan con el ambiente clásico y elegante del lugar, y de un tono que complementa a la perfección con el entorno.
Sin embargo, lo que más disfruté dentro del restaurante fue la delicadeza con que eligieron las obras de arte para decorar las paredes. Es muy agradable el ambiente que se crea alrededor de un decorado tan refinado. El interior de este lugar no está solo ideado para saborear una deliciosa comida sino también para deleitar nuestra vista contemplando la belleza de una pintura cuidadosamente colocada.
Las temáticas de las obras están conectadas con el entorno marítimo de los alrededores y la gastronomía y cada uno está ubicado de manera que desde cualquier mesa se pueden apreciar sus detalles. No pude evitar levantarme y fotografiar los que más me gustaron, y aunque todos son reproducciones están muy bien logradas y los marcos que los rodean son especialmente elaborados y elegantes.
Además de la buena compañía y la atención esmerada, me agradó mucho conocer este restaurante. Me hizo sentir que efectivamente los momentos de la vida se disfrutan al máximo cuando todos nuestros sentidos están en armonía. Fue un dia especial en un espacio creado con gusto y sensibilidad.
