If we take a walk to Langkat Regency, Indonesia. Here stands a very phenomenal mosque and many tourists and local tourists from various regions come to this mosque. the name of this mosque is the Azizi mosque which was built in 1902 by Sultan Abdul Aziz Abdul Jalil Rahmadsyah. This mosque is very popular because it was built by the Malay sultanate in Langkat. Before stepping into the courtyard of the mosque and when we stand in front of the gate of the mosque. This building is different from other buildings around the mosque. And compared to other mosques and other houses of worship, the courtyard of the mosque and this building is much larger and wider.
Entering the courtyard of the mosque from the side we will find the tomb area. The tomb in the area of the azizi mosque is still functioning and is still being used. However, it is not like other tombs in Langkat City. the people buried here are those who are still descendants of the Malay sultanate in Langkat. So this tomb is not for the general public. And there are several tombs that are treated special and the place is right next to this Azizi mosque. they are the Sultans or Kings when the Malay kingdom was still victorious in this Langkat City. Many people in Langkat still make pilgrimages to the Sultan's Tomb to honor the Sultanate. Above the tomb stands a magnificent building to mark their privilege. The architecture of the building which is dominated by green and yellow as a symbol of Malay traditional pride is very thick here. The keeper of the Sultan's tomb also provides fresh flowers with various colors of flowers if the visitors want to make a pilgrimage to the tombs of these Sultans. and in this tomb there is also a meal of the Great Poet in Indonesia who is famous for his poems. He is Tengku Amir Hamzah.
After being satisfied to see the tombs of the Sultans, I went back into the courtyard of the mosque to see the architecture that is here. The first thing I saw was the pillar of the mosque which was dominated by the faded green color. The shape of this building as a whole is still very classic, the shape of the door in this mosque is even still far from the word Modren, but when I saw the floor of this mosque, there have been changes and modern polishes here, because the floor material in this mosque has made of granite.
Then when we see the architecture in the mosque. The ornaments that adorn this mosque are also classic, although there are some modern touches, with thick red feathers for the comfort of the congregation and classically shaped decorative lights. Not far from the courtyard of the mosque, there is also a library that still maintains the same architecture and dominant colors of green, yellow, black. this library contains religious books and old poets' poetry that smells of Malay customs and the history of the Malay sultanate in Langkat Regency.
However, although the design and architecture of the Azizi Mosque is still fairly classic and far from being modern, it turns out that this is all that attracts this mosque. many people with old age who come to this place to reminisce and share stories about their stories in the past about this Malay Sultanate. while the younger generation come here to take pictures and look for the history. Whatever the reason, it is clear that the Azizi mosque is a cultural heritage that should be preserved and preserved in its originality. Greetings from us Tomi and Maya from Binjai City, Indonesia
