In 2004, Indonesia, specifically the Special Province of Aceh was hit by the Tsunami which caused hundreds of thousands of victims. Even until now there are still victims of the Tsunami who have not been found. The Tsunami Natural Disaster in Aceh at that time had become a national disaster that attracted the attention of international citizens, even in Indonesia at that time, for almost months, the main news on television still presented information about the impact of damage and casualties from the Tsunami. And when the Tsunami disaster happened, I was still in high school. And hopefully this huge Tsunami disaster will not happen again in Indonesia and in any country. And it took several years for Aceh Province to become what it is today. Building not only the infrastructure, but building the mentality of the people, especially the children who were severely traumatized by the incident.
And from this disaster many friendly countries provided assistance to the State of Indonesia. They flocked to build new infrastructure so that the people of Aceh could have new homes with good water sources and comfort and recover from the trauma and deep sorrow caused by the disaster. Many buildings were erected specifically to commemorate the tsunami tragedy and there are also many new mass graves that people continue to visit one after another to pray for their families, even up to now. In fact, every December 26 the Acehnese will not carry out any activities, they will visit the mass graves of the tsunami victims, go to mosques to pray together so that this disaster will not happen again.
Of the many infrastructures and buildings that mark the occurrence of the Tsunami disaster in the Province of Aceh, in Banda Aceh there is a museum which is named the Tsunami Museum. This museum is devoted to reminding visitors how devastating the tsunami disaster was in a neat way without frightening the visitors who came. The Tsunami Museum was designed by an Indonesian architect who is now the Governor of West Java, Ridwan Kamil, through the Syaimbara method carried out by the regional government of Aceh Province.
When viewed from a distance, the Tsunami museum will look like a ship that has a chimney. When we are just about to enter the tsunami museum, we will be presented with gurgling water flowing from the sides of the wall that connects the building that resembles a chimney. If you look at it from inside, the part of the building that resembles a chimney is designed and filled with the names of the victims who died on each side of the wall so that it rises to the top of the chimney, and when we lift our heads up, you will see above the chimney. The writing of ALLAH as a symbol that the names listed as victims of the Tsunami have turned to their Lord.
Exit the Chimney section and there are still many exhibition rooms that present mini shows of how the Aceh tsunami happened. And there is also a bridge in the middle of the building which is made like a bridge when we cross the ocean, on the bridge we will find many countries that have helped Indonesia. and there is also a room that shows a miniature of this tsunami museum in its entirety.
After being satisfied with the design inside the tsunami museum, we will walk outside the museum. The thing that can be seen from this museum is a mini garden that has a fish pond with a seat shaped like large round stones around the pond, then there are also parks and helicopters that were damaged by this tsunami museum. and many other things that you will get when you enter this museum. I hope you like what I share. Greetings from us Tomi and Maya from Binjai City, Indonesia
