Greetings friends of Hive and the Architecture+Design community. More than once I have visited the VIVA Shopping Center on Carrera 81, in Laureles, Medellin and this is one of the three that exist in the Department of Antioquia. The VIVA is a chain of shopping centers that extends in Colombia but I will show you the one in Laureles, commune 11 of Medellin and I will show it in two parts, first in this publication I will show you the exterior aspect which you will see a little humid because it was an afternoon of announced rain as you can see in the gray sky :)
Saludos amigos de Hive y de la comunidad Architecture+Design. Mas de una vez he visitado el Centro Comercial VIVA de la Carrera 81, en Laureles, Medellín y este es uno de los tres que existen en el Departamento de Antioquia. El VIVA es una cadena de centros comerciales que se extiende en Colombia pero voy mostrarles el que está en Laureles, comuna 11 de Medellín y se lo mostraré en dos partes, primero en esta publicación les mostraré el aspecto exterior el cual verán un poco humedo porque era una tarde de lluvia anunciada como se ve en el cielo gris :)
The VIVA of Laureles is a one-story shopping center with a simple but very nice exterior design and the truth is that from the outside it looks bigger than it is but with well thought out details for its beautification. The mall is very ornamented from its walls as you can see with brick slabs, with stone slabs, with many green areas and also offers excellent accessibility thanks to a pedestrian bridge with steps and ramp that crosses over the avenue or Carrera 81, there is also a large bus stop and cab rank that is located after the entrance and exit of the parking area of the mall.
El VIVA de Laureles es un centro comercial de una planta con un diseño exterior sencillo pero muy bonito y la verdad es que por fuera se vé más grande de lo que es pero con detalles bien pensados para su embellecimiento. El centro comercial está muy ornamentado desde sus muros como se puede ver con lajas de ladrillos, con lajas de piedras, con muchas zonas verdes y tambien ofrece excelente accesibilidad gracias a un puente peatonal con escalones y con rampa que atraviesa sobre la avenida o Carrera 81, también hay una gran parada de buses y de taxis que está ubicada después de la entrada y salida de la zona de estacionamiento del centro comercial.
The main entrance of the Viva Laureles Shopping Center is quite wide and very simple, I would say simple but I keep the environment that makes it attractive and well the vegetation plays a good role. I have always liked this in architectural designs, I think you have to take care of the ornament with many plants, I like the green with some flowers and in the planning of this mall was taken into account the construction of large planters on the outside.
La entrada principal del Centro Comercial Viva Laureles es bastante amplia y muy sencilla, yo diría simple pero me quedo con el entorno que lo hace atractivo y bueno la vegetación juega un buen papel. Esto siempre me ha gustado en los diseños arquitectónicos, creo que hay que cuidar el ornamento con muchas plantas, me gusta lo verde con algunas flores y en la planificación de este centro comercial se tomó en cuenta la construcción de grandes jardineras en su exterior.
The name of the VIVA Shopping Center is distinguished by its bright yellow color and the red dot of the letter “i”. On the sidewalk at the front of the avenue is the familiar sized word, an impossible to miss detail that stands out among the gardens at the entrance and exit of the parking lot.
El nombre del Centro Comercial VIVA se distigue por su color amarillo brillante y el punto rojo de la letra i. En la acera al frente de la avenida está la palabra de tamaño familiar, un detalle imposible de no ver que resalta entre los jardines en la entrada y salida del paqueadero.
Another element that can be seen in the distance is the tower of tubes with an inverted letter i, symbol of the Supermecado EXITO which is the main store inside the VIVA Shopping Center.
Otro elemento que se puede ver a lo lejos es la torre de tubos con una letra i inversa, simbolo del Supermecado EXITO que es la tienda principal dentro del Centro Comercial VIVA.
Well, there are more exterior elements that are eye-catching, such as the high stone wall with plants that appear to fall like green waterfalls but are actually planters embedded in the wall and the mall has an irrigation system that takes advantage of rainwater.
Bueno, hay más elementos exteriores que son llamativos, como el muro alto de piedras con plantas que parece que caen como cascadas verdes pero se trata de jardineras incrustadas en la pared y el centro comercial tiene un sistema de riego aprovechando el agua de lluvia.
The parking lot has two levels, one is outdoors on the roof and the other in the basement. The truth is that I think there is more capacity for vehicles than for people because it is a one-story building and it is really small compared to other shopping centers in Medellin.
El parquedero tiene dos niveles, uno está al aire libre en la azotea y otro en el sotano. La verdad es que pienso que hay más capacidad para los vehiculos que para personas porque es un edificio de una planta y en realidad es pequeño en comparación con otros centros comerciales de Medellín.
The entrance to the parking area is adorned with a water fountain. Another nice detail as an exterior element of the VIVA Shopping Center :)
La entrada a la zona de parqueo está adornada con una fuente de agua. Otro bonito detalle como elemento exterior del Centro Comercial VIVA :)
