A couple of weeks ago, while walking by the sea in the resort area of the village called Valbandon, only a couple of kilometers from Pula, the nearby city, I came across a couple of shadows for this week's contest.
Here you can see some fairly large shadows on the facade of a very small building that looks like some kind of oversized box. The three windows go very well along with the wavy, elongated shapes of the shadows, creating a fairly elegant composition. That's why I stopped to take a couple of shots. In the following photograph ...
... you can take a look at the tree that cast those shadows and see how close to the beach all these things are. I mean, you can't see the entire tree, only some branches. But you can definitively and completely see how far is the sea. Not far at all.
As you can see in this shot, the shadows enveloped the building. The projected silhouettes of the branches look a bit like the tentacles of a monster holding a box. I imagined it being dragged into the sea by this two-dimensional Kraken-like thing. Although still obviously flat, projected on two perpendicular surfaces, the shadow gives a strange feeling of a certain depth. Like it could brake through its limitation end enter the real world. 😆 The more you think about shadows, the more chances to get scared. Think too much and you'll end up running from your own shadow.
Here you can see two small, harmless shadows photographed on the same little beachside building.
In this shot, I photographed the tree from an angle that makes the shadow of one of its branches look like a part of the tree. I kinda merged the two worlds. The real tree continues to grow into the shadowland. The shadow occupies only a small part of this shot, but since I like the half-baked illusion created by the position and angle from which the photograph was taken, I decided that this will be my entry for the contest.
Electric cables were coming out of the wall in some places just under the roof, giving me the opportunity to collect a few more shadows for this post. The cable shown in this photograph looks like a cluster of intestinal worms while the shadow is just a scribble.
Here you can see a cable that looks more like a bracelet or something like that.
AND THAT'S IT. I HAVE NO MORE SHADOWS TO SHOW, SO THE POST MUST END HERE. AS ALWAYS ON HIVE, THE PHOTOGRAPHS ARE MY WORK.
