i was in nightwalker mode last night and taking pictures of the city when i found this fountain area. i was a bit disappointed when i saw that the water was not running as you can see, but that made the water surface so clear and so reflective like a mirror. i was so happy with that effect it made and immediately thought of the reflection hunters contest. the fountain was on a rectangular base and that edge made it look like a poster or a canvass.
for context, this picture was taken in Wadakura Fountain Park (和田倉噴水公園). this fountain was made to commemorate the wedding of the crown prince. now i was trying to find more context of who that prince was, as you may have known, japan just had an imperial succession to the thrown in the last decade so it was quite unclear whether the prince referred was the old prince (who is now emperor) or the current crown prince. nonetheless, it was a stunning park just in front of the imperial palace in chiyoda-ku, tokyo.
just beside the park was the original stone walls of the historic wadakura gate. those stones looked heavy and will probably not go away for centuries to come. the original wooden "gate" is of course long gone. just outside was a bridge on a moat, just like any heavily guarded historic palaces.
hope you had a great time.
as always, AMPING KANUNAY!
