Been to a walk at the meadow not far from the sentry of which I am stationed for three days and to break the monotony to avoid boredom during my twelve hour work, I photographed things that thrives in the vegetation and the shadows of insects caught my attention of which I will be sharing here. Top of my list is the weaver ants that are always busy storing their food just like on the first photograph or transporting their eggs to another location and maybe this one fellow might be taking a breather when I caught him through the lens.
Second is this robber fly clutching a common fly as if it is trying to conceal its prey by its shadow.
Third is this species of hoverfly that love to cast their shadows on on a leaf.
Followed by a wasp thst is silhouetted by its shadow by looking at the underside of a leaf.
Also of horsefly that looks similar with that of hoverfly but have stripes on their eye.
And the latrine fly as well as the common housefly.
The following flies above looks like have similarities with each other in their appearances but this one looks different from them and always have the stand tall antics and this is the banana stalk fly.
Last but not the least is the fastest beetle in the world which is the tiger beetle that I was able to outrun to have its shadow taken.
These are the insects that I chased in the meadow so that I will be able to photograph their shadows to have some sort of unique contribution to Shadow Hunters/SMASH contest hosted by Ms. @melinda010100. Good luck to all the participants!
