Yet again, I captured night shadow. I placed a 2.25-liter bottle filled with water on a table, placed it before a light source, I used torchlight for that, and captured the shadow that stretched across the wall.
As always, Shadow once again demonstrated the duality of life and this existence. What is thought-provoking here is that we need a light source to capture the shadow, yet the shadow in itself is the absence of light.
I also adjusted the positions of the light and experimented to fine-tune the size of the shadow. What is more fascinating is the translucent core and darkening outline.
Shadows are the unseen, unexplored dimensions of life. That is where the mystery of life hides.
Shadow is about the perspectives, the ephemerals, the intangibles of life. In another way, we can say it is the depth of this existence and beyond our finite contemplation.
What we can see with our eyes implies visibility. But the distance between the eye and the visible is the projection. Shadows reside in that projection. It defines wholeness and the fluidity of it.
Clarity may not necessarily emerge in light; it could emerge in darkness. Shadows are a testament to it. It is that flip side of the coin that we often ignore or are oblivious to.
Think about water, it is formless, yet it takes the shape of any container into which it is put. Similarly, think about shadows. In this case, it is being cast through a bottle, giving the form.
Have an affair with night, develop intimacy with night, seek solitude........ who knows, one day you will be able to capture the shadow of your soul. That day, you will capture the real selfie of your life.
To be continued.......
Thank you.
