Martín looked out the window again. Maybe a minute passed. Just infinite white, the same white in all directions. Then he saw a small speck to the right. Something was approaching.

He wondered if he would explode too.
He walked over to the window. He pulled back the curtains. The white vastness. He opened the window and pulled out an arm. He feared his skin would burn, disintegrate, become part of the whiteness, but nothing of the sort happened. He stuck his head out and took a deep breath. The emptiness felt good. He sat on the edge of the window with his feet dangling. He waited a few minutes until he saw the small stain. He waved his arm in the air. The spot got bigger and bigger. Again he saw the red eyes, the sharp teeth, the drool, the rough skin. But this time it looked unmistakably like a cow. He smiled. When the cow was within a few feet of him, he could see the gleam in its eyes. He couldn't tell if it was the same glow or not. It didn't matter. He didn't need another glow.
He closed his eyes. He felt her damp breath, the smell of freshly plucked grass. He petted her. The cow mooed.
